    Hi ladies, did you guys get many updates from Monash on how your eggs were going after EPU? I only had a call the after transfer to say how many fertilized, then a call today (day 4) with details of transfer time. I had to call back to see how the eggs went and it was still just the number surviving embryos but no more detail. Is this normal? I'm feeling a little bit in the dark ...

    hi @Annie85, you are doing good if they are doing a 5 day transfer! they pretty much just tell you that they are surviving and when you go in for a transfer they'll tell you how many cells the embryo's have.

    @kuwtk may I ask if it's not to personal, have you guys discussed an anonymous donor in comparison to someone you know? do you think you will find it easier going through an anonymous? we will have to start maybe thinking about DE if things aren't improving.

    Thank you very much for the reassurance I'll wait and see how they are doing for transfer tomorrow

    Default Lynn Burmeister Monash IVF-feedback wanted please #6

    Lileitak- I'm not sure Lynn's stance on double embryo but it seems more and more specialists opt for one now for various reasons. With my first cycle with Lynn I put two back in but after losing that bubba at 18 weeks and a subsequent diagnosis of an incompetent cervix it was deemed too dangerous to ever do a double transfer again. Ultimately you can do a double if you wish just need to sign a consent form if it's against dr advice.
    Thanks for this. I know the current position is "a healthy singleton birth" so figured she wouldn't promote it. I think I read somewhere that IVF twins are slightly higher risk than spontaneous twins for some reason. Not sure why, but I understand the aversion to it. I'll ask at my next appt.

    I'm sorry to hear about your previous loss. A close friend had 2 at around 20 weeks before she was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. She spent her last pregnancy on bed rest for 36 weeks and has a gorgeous 6 month old now. I am in awe of her strength, I think I'd have gone to a much darker place.

    It could depend on your nurse. I think I got a couple calls with updates, but it was a while back so my memory isn't great.

    As faiths love said getting to day 5 is a good sign! Good luck with your transfer.

    Can anyone tell me of their experience with sporadic cycles ?
    Mine have neen regular up under now at around Day25 but i'm just got early period at Day18 - along with a lot of feeling very PMS.
    I'm guessing this means my FSH is way up.
    I'm wondering if its even going to be worthdoing another natural cycle or if i go straight to OS donor.. did find out its around 30k so i cant look at doing both

    @Faiths love

    Yes we considered anon vs known donor egg but our reasons for not going with a known donor was more because we don't actually have any family/friends to ask and I also chose not to put an advert out for an Australian donor.

    I didn't want the pressure of having to convince someone to do it and then potentially risk them changing their mind or not being suitable to do it for us. The laws in spain and from what I understand several other countries overseas mean that the donor egg must be anon. So I don't get to look at photos of donors and select one like some countries and agencies offer.

    I think long term i would prefer anon because I would hate to get into some sort of argument with the donor at some stage down the line ... Even though the child is legally yours you just never know how people are going to behave afterwards. I say this as worst case scenario though!!

    thanks Lilietak and Riss 78

    Lilietak, I honestly have no idea how much Monash will assist in transferring the embryos. I haven't started the process yet
