    Also if u only need it for say 4 or 5 hrs each day do u still pay a full days fee. Sorry for all the Q's this is all new to me

    Yes you pay per day regardless of how many hours you use

    Trying to weigh up if it will be worth working two days a week. From my calculations and using the centrelink online estimator for ftb we would be about $100 per week better off.

    Pretty depressing really.

    Call centres to find out full fees, ask centrelink what you're benefit and rebate will be and go drom there

    You might be eligible for some discount with child care benefit.

    I asked my sister her center charges $86 a day which is on the higher end she said most are around $70 a day. I did the online estimator and for 2 days a week it would cost us around $61 out of pocket a week. For after school care only 2 days a week based on $20 a day would cost $21 out of pocket. That with what we would lose on ftb we would be around $220 a fortnight better off with me working those 2 days .

    My sil actually works at the center around the corner so would be one of the carers for our youngest which makes me feel better.

    There are centre's that offer occasional care. So you can drop your kids off for a certain amount of time. I assume you pay an hourly rate that is probably more expensive per hour than child care (not that child care is paid per hour). There is also family daycare to consider that might be more flexible.
