Kluskee! I personally haven't ever made them but my grandma always had a pot of Kluskee soup ready to go on the stove for visitors, we grew up eating that stuff

Yes, us too Pieroggi with potato and cheese filling (or saurkraut for Dad), Kluskee with pork gravy, and jam-ball donuts. Such a happy time....

Yes! Homemade donuts were the bomb! I'm getting so nostalgic now
And I hear you on the food love, it must be ingrained in us! Food was always so central at my grandma's house, we always sat around the kitchen table, never the lounge room etc. And thinking back I never realised how hard she must have worked because there was always just an endless supply of food ready to be served at any given time! My favourite was always Borscht, or "red soup" as us kids called it. And it was only ever made using freshly grown beetroot from my papa's garden and was seasonal so it was such a treat when they were ready to eat!

My brother can made the donuts really well. Apparently either you have the gift or you don't when it comes to making them. I cannot make them. My mum couldn't either.

All this pierogi talk makes me miss my nana, she used to make them all the time. I wish I learned to make them before she died they were so yum.

I've never tried to make them myself. I don't have the recipe for that. Would be very interested if anyone has one they could share with me though

Yes. It has been nostalgic for me as well

I have the pieroggi recipe somewhere if you'd like me to dig it up for you?

ETA: I have recently connected with two other amazing Polish women online (not BH - another site) and they are very similar to me. Strong, vibrant, generous and absolutely devoted to food. They are my kindred spirits!
I'm a Polish, Russian, Italian mix - love my food!!!

I'd love your recipe if you have time to find it. Yours too @~Marigold~. So much of my Polish heritage has been lost. My Polish Grandfather has Alzheimers and my Dad and his siblings have never carried on the traditions.
