@mrsthomo I'm totally in the same boat as you. Can't wait to be a stay at home mum. Everyone else can do what they want but my instinct and belief is that bonding with children and being with them as much as possible is the beauty of motherhood. My sister and her husband have a fairly bohemian lifestyle and they both worked from home with their children on a beautiful farm with lots of animals and access to mum and dad always. They are two of the most beautiful people in the world now (21 and 18). It's my opinion anyway that being with your children creates good solid and secure foundations for emotional intelligence and so much more. As I said each to their own but that's what I want.

I've heard good reports from Westmead also. I've done 3 cycles and the most expensive one was no better than the cheapest. There are plenty of scammers out there with IVF. They push you into it and give such a sense of urgency and you think they are all priced the same. Not true.

Fair enough katt01. I guess everyone experience is different and I'd have a totally different outlook if it worked. But I didn't find the experience very good. The only contact I had with my FS was when her receptionist rang me after 4 fails cycles and no embryos left to see if I wanted to book in with her again. I didn't get one follow up call after I ended up in hospital after my first transfer ended in an ectopic.

@Hopeful no the fs arent good with contact and neither were the nurses, luckily though i didnt have the problems back then i do now and every clinic is different regardless of the price. The only time i saw the fs was the initial appointment, epu n transfer that was it lol but i guess we get what we pay for and pray we get the baby at the end.

Our cost is $1900 if we hit the Medicare threshold but most likely $3000 per cycle and less for a transfer but we are doing ICSI!
I will be a working mum... I own my own business and pretty career orientated, thought I have flexibility my partner is home by 4 so I can work evenings if needed and weekends when needed too and if I have appointments during the day while bubs is young I will leave it at the office and then go the nanny route I think because my hours are so scattered! I couldn't stay at home full time... My mind goes non stop and not having an outlet for myself would send me insane I know that for sure! Plus money wise I am very independent I own quite a few investment properties which we are now consolidating into our home (will still have at least one property) and I have an insane shopping habit that's there no way I couldn't have my own money! I respect everyone's decision though but I know me and there's no way I would think twice before buying clothes and shoes haha

Yep Katt I agree u get what u pay for. I thought DH should try one of the low cost clinics first as we don't have any real problems, just was worried about age. But after 4 failed cycles there I was definitely ready to try a different clinic. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better I know but I'm willing to give it a try.

I'm glad your experience was good and you got ds out of it. I had a friend there that was successful there too so I know they do good work but I think in my case I need more monitoring

Thats how I feel with my clinic. I only get calls from the nurses to tell me blood results. I wanted to book a premptive appt with my FS after the transfer in case it didnt work and they told me oh dont worry we will squeeze you in to see him if doesnt work. But now that it hasn't worked they won't give me an appt and just said that either he will call me or the nurses will call.

@Evelynmoo sorry to hear you clinic won't allow you an appointment, i made one with my fs anyway, i figure im paying to see him and no nurse is going to tell me i cant when its my body, although the nurse did question why lol and plus it helps i have my fs email and he replied to make an appointment to discuss my situation further. I hope you get to see your fs no body should be treated that way or told no when it's their body and life.

OMG how annoying!! U try and do the right thing and have everything ready to go and try and make an apointment and they tell u not to now u can't get in?! That's beyond frustrating! That type of stuff can set u back a couple of cycles with timings etc. It's bad enough having to wait in IVF let alone having to wait for an appointment u tried to make in the first place to avoid that!
