So no one else has mentioned the chin beard thing.

    Well, this is awkward.

No chin beard thing here, but I do have a mole near my upper lip that has sprouted a hair that grows three times a fast as a normal hair. I need to remember to keep on plucking else it would be a good contender for the Guinness Book of Records longest hair.

I love being in my forties and am happier than I ever was in my twenties.

I have career success plus a happy family, life is full and very busy but happy.

The older I get the more fulfilled I feel.

Life to me is such an amazing journey and the longer the journey, the wiser you are and the greater potential for joy.

I think that my circumstances health wise have really shaped my view on ageing.
For me it is a gift to be here and be well! I'm so in love with my husband and since the transplant we've been having quite the resurgence in our um, adult time - so that's a happy!
Um, there is just a deeper, more fulfilling sense of being that I have at nearly 37 that I didn't have at 27. At 27 I was flailing.
Yep I have odd hair growth, boobs that look like they nourished children for six years, I have wicked scars all over my abdomen and I'm covered in bruises but I feel really, bloody good! I feel wanted and loved and even sexy!
Ageing I think is like everything else - it's what you do with it.

I'm not dealing well with getting older and it hit me today when I was at Myer at the Review section. All these beautiful dresses that don't fit me because a) I'm heavier than I was 5yrs ago and pre children b)4wks post natal wobbly shape and c) none of those gorgeous dresses were breastfeeding friendly.

So I walked out, Sat down and cried.

I feel older than my years. All my work colleagues who I would call friends are 52-75yrs old. Most of my mummy friends are 35+yrs old but all of my friends I knew at school and uni are childless and still living the party life.

I do love my kids but I definitely miss my carefree and review wearing days.

I remember you saying something similar in a thread I posted last year, and could not relate what so ever - I seem to have the complete opposite feeling! (Not that I wish I didn't exist, but that my old life was more meaningful)

If it makes you feel better, I have a mole on my back that now sprouts a big, gross hair that I have to get DP to pluck for me since I can't reach, I think that's pretty shameful

That's such an interesting perspective! And so utterly foreign to me! But I hope I feel the same way in another 10 years.

And hugs to you @Rose&Aurelia&Hannah, though I'm sure you don't need pretty dresses to look beautiful.

I turned 40 a few months ago and feel fabulous actually. I haven't really given getting older much thought til now. I had those partying years early, I was never into the casual sex thing so that's all good. I got married at 31, started a family at 33. All worked out career wise and now studying for a career change. I look after my body, my skin and health, still weigh what I did 10 years ago. Don't look any older really than I did 10 years ago. Life's good, can't complain, have no regrets.

Oh and I should say that even personally, some interesting things are coming my way. I've done two public speaking things about the transplant and I've been asked to photograph a couple of things so life feels really full of unknown opportunities.

Default How do you cope with aging?

@deku, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up either! I'm in total limbo career wise at the moment but I'm really ok with that (something that's come with age?!). I'm looking forward to seeing where the road takes me, that's my next big adventure 😊

(Just to clarify - I know what I want for pretty much everything else lol!).
