Default Nervous- It's just such a big step

So, at some time today I will be finding out if I was successful in applying for a job 8hours away. They have contacted my references so it's looking positive but I am just so nervous. It's such a huge step. I'm not a big risk taker. This has been on the cards for near on a decade now so it's a decision well thought out but it still doesn't stop me from needing to take a couple of big breaths.

Please, can someone tell me some positive stories of relocation experiences.

I have everything crossed for you

My first big relocation was in my early 20's when I moved from the south coast of NSW to Sydney. I just got a transfer in the existing company I worked with so it was an easy transition. Sydney was a great place in terms of job opportunity and I gained great experiences.

I left Sydney for a sea change almost 6 years ago. The job I initially secured wasn't the greatest (very high pressure and the pay wasn't great considering the stress), but I only ended up working there 7 months before an ideal position became available for the company my dad works for. Almost 5 years later I'm still here, and I feel like the area we live in now is truly 'home' for us

Well done. You can do it. We relocated without a job and it was positive we only had to move back because of DS.

Are they paying for your relocation?

    Ask hubbeds for suburbs etc

You will find friends, DS will adjust you will be fine. just think of the money so you can camp again

    Congratulations!

We relocated in our early 20s as I got a job out of uni in a different state. DH then transferred within his company. It was hard at first, and it is still hard as we are a 15 hour drive away (or 2 hour plane flight and 3 hour drive) from our family, but we've made a lovely little life here and are quite settled.

Thanks Everyone. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. Lots to do but we'll get there.

The new job is a big pay drop but hopefully I can work my way up in the organization and be looking to earn more sooner rather than later.
