    Default Ectopic Pregnancy

    Hi everyone,

I am currently going through an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube. I had the methotrexate injection last week which didn't work, my levels have been going up and down so my FS decided to give me a second injection which I had 2 days ago. I am worried that this injection won't work either and am feeling extremely stressed out. My bleeding has slowed ( which I have had on and off for the past three weeks) and is now very scant and brown in colour and the pain I was having on my right side has pretty much settled but what concerns me is my breasts are feeling a little tender again! Has anyway had this while being treated with methotrexate? I'm hoping it's just my hormones being out of whack and not my levels rising again. I go for blood work on Saturday which will be day 4 and then again on day 7 to see if they have dropped otherwise it's off to surgery I go .

I can't personally give you advice because my ectopic went straight to surgery, but just wanted to stop by and leave support and hugs!
I know googling things isn't usually advised in these situations, but I googled 'methotrexate' and 'breast tenderness' and there seems to be a link out there. Being said, I don't know at what dosage it comes about. Maybe that's what you're experiencing? Hopefully not your levels going up again

    Hi stardust,

First off - I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I had an ectopic in June last year. I had oral methotrexate the day after I was diagnosed.

For me the tablets did not work and I has to have the surgery a couple of days later. Even after the surgery - when they could 100% confirm I was no longer pregnant - I still had symptoms. They lasted a few weeks. I think it was around three weeks later I no longer felt pregnant iykwim.

Sending you much love and thoughts. I hope you are doing whatever you can to look after yourself.

If you need to talk please pm me xxxx

    Hi ladies,

Thank you all so much for the replies and kind words. This is why I love this forum so much because there are so many who can relate.

I also want to say I'm so sorry to those of you who have experienced an ectopic pregnancy. It is by far one of the hardest things to go through! I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life . The stress of losing a baby, the stress of thinking how this will impact your future fertility and the stress of all of the tests! It has been a very trying time for both my partner and I.

Thankfully today I finally got some good news, my levels have made a decent drop! I went from 283 on Tuesday to 159 today. I'm not out of the woods yet as my doctor said there needs to be another significant drop on day 7 but she was really happy with today's result! So here's to hoping my levels continue to drop so I can avoid surgery.

Hey! I'm doing a lot better, thanks for asking! I had my 7 day bloods yesterday and my levels are down to 31 so it looks to have finally worked. I'm so relieved but it's bitter sweet . I'm feeling really emotionally drained and just found out today my best friend is pregnant! Arghhh! I'm happy for her but can't help but feel resentment, I hate the person I'm becoming but after 2 miscarriages and now an ectopic it's hard not to envy anyone who's pregnant

I've never had an ectopic. It sounds like a really draining, horrible process. I have had a miscarriage and a stillbirth so I can comment on the jealousy. It's very normal. In fact, how could you not be jealous? I catch myself thinking terrible things - eg why do some people go through all this multiple times while some have a perfect reproductive history? If life was fair the losses would be spread evenly. I don't like it when I think that way but I reckon everyone who goes through this has dark moments.

    You're a strong lady xx
