Default Do you find it interesting (and annoying)

That a 15 year old boy in Parramatta is called a terrorist (assuming because he was Muslim) but a 21 year old Swedish man of Swedish origin is being called a "school killer" and "masked man"

I can't help but think if he was Muslim he'd be labelled a terrorist. It really p1sses me off.

Terrorism is simply defined as the "unofficial or unauthorised use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims".

If the investigation for the Swedish attack reveals links to terrorist groups or other political ideologies, then it will also be classed as terrorism.
But they have already linked his act to political aims.
Definitely a terrorist in my books.

They already know his motivation. He was anti-immigration and "extreme right wing." He targeted a poor neighbourhood that has a large proportion of immigrants. I think his motive and political stance is pretty clear.

    Your post is quite condescending.

    Wow!

Saying your post is condescending is not bullying.

Report me. There is also an ignore button if you feel I'm being rude.

I take it your issue is with the media reporting? Write a complaint if you're not happy with the portrayal in the media.

Personally I think the only people that should be able to label a crime terrorism or a person a terrorist are the law enforcement officers investigating it/them.

Too much misuse of the term in the media - everything is bloody terrorism this days. It's all about sensational journalism and causing hysteria and panic these days instead of actually reporting the facts.

I am not saying to call him a terrorist. I am asking why he is called a sword killer and masked man when another is called a terrorist by the same media.

And thanks for your suggestions but again, a tad condescending and aggressive.

I actually agree with part of your previous post but your delivery is a bit off in this thread. You can disagree without being condescending.

I didn't get that vibe at all from the post.

    .
It is a bit like (knowingly) adding kindling to a campfire though.

Enough kindling from enough people and threads go pear shaped.
