    Default Mirena - should I or shouldn't I?

I have an appt to insert the Mirena. I've never taken contraception. DH and I are done with having more kids. After years giving up gym/exercise and numerous IVF cycles it's my time to look after myself and would like to lose weight. I'm working hard now to eat well and exercise while taking care of our new bub.

I've read a lot about weight gain with the Mirena (like most contraceptives) and not willing to take the risk. What is your experience? I would like to lose the weight before trialing it. The only other option is to use condoms but DH hates them and we're not ready for snips.

I loved my mirena. I had no weight gain with it and will happily get it again.

It doesn't work for everyone so be warned that it may not agree with you.

Loved it too. No weight gain or any side effects I usually get on the pill. Hormone dose is way less than normal pill so I would imagine the likelihood of weight gain would be less than other hormonal contraceptives.

Will get it again after #2 for sure.

A ha, so that explains my weight gain!
Also I have had constant light spotting since it was inserted in feb. I have to wear a liner everyday.
    Partner doesn't feel the strings.
I would still get it again. I like the spontaneity of it. Which is very handy with kids.

I've had mine in for about 2.5 years and I'm extremely happy with it. No weight gain or major symptoms. Only thing I get which I didn't before is the occasional pimple (just one or two every month, barely noticeable). If DP doesn't get the snip I'll be happy to keep it in and renew after the 5 year mark.

I've had mine about 18 months. I think it's great. I've had no bleeding in over a year. No weight gain or other symptoms.

    Default AF after mirena

    Hi all,
This is the most recent forum on mirena so thought I would give this a shot.
I had a mirena inserted last Aug following a procedure to fix a uterus septum and also to keep the severe endo under control. Got it removed on Jan 13 as we are about to start ivf to try for our first.
Just wondering how long it takes for AF to come after removal

@Kathk18 - I've had the mirena 3 times over 12yrs. First 2 times, period returned within 2 weeks, 3rd time took 5 weeks.
