That looks exactly like what we get. It's not termites....its dead black ant bodies! We got a pest inspector out to check for termites as we kept getting this build up in corners, and that's what he told us. They push the dead bodies out of the nest and they end up falling through cracks in the walls/ceiling. You'd still need to get it treated as they may have built a nest in your house. Its like large black crumbs?

I am no expert, but that may not actually be termites. Could just be droppings from regular black ants? I think termites are often secretive, which is why they're often such a problem. Can't see the pic clearly, but i think we have had stuff a bit like that before, and it was black ants. Could be a nest in the wall. Hope it turns out ok for you.

Yup, what @Frankenmum said, i reckon. Pellety things sounds like black ants. Hope it's easily treated for you, whatever it is.

Good to know its not necessarily termites!

We need to get a professional to spray for bugs and spiders etc anyway but I didn't really want this right now! I have a wedding in 10 months and this house already needs so much $$ spent on it already! Waaaah!

So I received the report from the pest control man early this morning, and as I predicted, it gave the house an absolute all clear.

I have emailed him back the picture I have taken with a light-hearted query, asking if we should be concerned about it.

Hopefully he will at least come and take a look at it without charging us!

How'd you go with this @Mod-Nomsie? Was it black ants?

Ooh thanks for asking. Yes- just black ants thankfully. We put a little Morton gel disc there last week- I last vacuumed on Saturday and still no evidence of them so they're gone for good!
We've also booked in to have the house sprayed for creepy crawlies which will cost us about $220 which I think is a fair price to pay for no spiders and their mates!
