Default Pest Inspection Before Buying Gave Us The All Clear...

... but it looks like we have evidence of termites in our bathroom.

Settlement was Sep 30, so we have only been here a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know if there is any law protecting us if it is proven the termites have been here longer than a couple of weeks? Would the company have to come and treat it pro bono? (If that is the correct saying? I mean at no cost! )

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also- *please!!* excuse the hair (I have to confess its mine- I washed my hair this morning!) an the dirty corner (house was a mess when we moved in and I haven't deep cleaned everywhere yet!) but I vacuumed this corner yesterday morning because there was a big pile of this stuff.
Now, less than 36 hours later the pile is growing again. Surely this is termites, right?

It's hard to see from the photo. Is it hard crusty mud type substance? When we found termites here, you could see distinct lines on the ground floor walls, and a muddy substance upstairs in the door jam.

Oh, and as for for the pest people, I don't know about the laws, but check their contract. If it is termites, for that much damage, they'd have to have been there a while. They can travel a fair distance too. Our pest guy found the nest about 100m from the house!

Yep - I've had 2 owners sue the pest company - 1 moved in and went to hammer a nail in the wall and the wall pretty much disintegrated, they took them to court and won $500,000 in compensation as the house couldn't be repaired - read the report and see if they mention past activity as it might be old damage?

Get another pest guy out there to have a look and get another opinion do you know exactly what it is

I agree with getting someone else out. I just had a Google and you might be right about it being their poo. Does look similar to photos online. Hopefully they haven't been there long enough to do too much damage. Nasty buggers!

So I've just looked back through df's email where we asked for the report to e sent, only to find one was never sent- only an invoice.

He did assure me over the phone that it was all clear. I am positive about that, otherwise why would we go ahead with the sale?

I have since sent an email this evening requesting the report so hopefully that can come through tomorrow.

Hopefully the written report will say past activities and no active termites or white ants but just be careful as now if there is a problem you may have trouble getting any remuneration as you never actually read the report ( a verbal will be hard to prove )
