Quick question for anyone that knows :-) Maybe @Chiefsgirl ?
Is there a reason why your FS chose intralipids over IVIG? I've been looking into what sort of protocol I may go on if I do continue down the path of IVF or DE next year, and I am severely allergic to egg whites, so intralipids would be out. However when I chatted with my GP yesterday, (who did specialise in obstetrics) she said IVIG can be dangerous and that's why they do it in hospital in case you have a severe allergic reaction etc.
Has anyone had IVIG instead of intralipids, or know anything about it? Just looking at all options...
@greenlady good luck today luv fx for great quality and a lovely number.
@Blossom74 wahoo luv thats great news stick with it lovely. Lots of water helps.xx
@JulieMalooley enjoy todays scan i cant wait for the update of two amazing heartbeats.
Afm still feeling sick from crinone but i might be getting a cold or something as well cause my throat was funny this am and a bit nasaly. Grrrr ah well im off to acupuncture today and getting my nails done. Hopefully i can relax.
@Charlie74 thanks for that document, that was great.
So in that it basically says IVIG is good for treating implantation failure (which hasn't been my issue - so I guess I can scrap that as an option anyway) and that Intralipids are for both implantation failure and for maintenance of the pregnancy due to NK cell activity (which may be my problem, but not definitive). So intralipids would have been good for me and I definitely would have tried them, except for my egg allergy which would rule it out.
So I guess I need to look at alternatives to intralipids like the high dose fish oil that @JulieMalooley has spoken about, alongside prednisone, clexane and aspirin.
@Summer ivig is a plasma product of blood. It is totally screened, just like blood donations are. I have been in the hospital with women having ivig and they have had no side effects from it at all.
Might help with explaining its uses. Although ivig isn't as popular in the us.
If you have been prescribed intralipids I would be extremely hesitant about just using fish oil as a replacement, while there are limited studies in Aus on immune therapies, there would be even less on replacing with fish oil. To be completely honest, if you are spending so much $$ on de, I would follow what the immune experts say, they do have experience. If I hadn't of followed dr m's protocol I wouldn't be pregnant now.
Dr m prescribes ivig for certain levels of nk cells and if you have other issues. He would have prescribed it to me for my hla/dq alpha matches with dh, but we went with neupogen and intralipids instead.
Thanks @Chiefsgirl - I actually haven't been prescribed either IVIG or intralipids as I have no evidence of NK cells, but I haven't had a uterine biopsy so there may be localised issues. Wazza did mention intralipids as an aside, just in the interests of trying everything if it is not going to hurt - but with my allergy I can't do it anyway, which is why I was looking into IVIG and whether that is worth exploring. I guess if I get to the point where I am going to do a cycle whether it is with OE or DE, then I can discuss the pros and cons of IVIG with my FS then. Thanks for the link that was really interesting.
