@Corbes Sounds promising there r.e maybe being able to do a FET this month

That's good he has 1 on 1 contact with his patients and is contactable at all times if needed. Why won't he allow you to choose?? I'd be seeking clarification on why and I'd also say I'd been given conflicting advice from the FN about who chooses so you'd like a clear answer

I've never done a FET not that it would matter if we refrained or not!!! However, if I was in your shoes and there was a chance for a natural conception while Cycling, I'd be giving it a red hot go!!! I think they only tell you to do that in case you get Preggo naturally as well as from the FET. It has happened before but I doubt it's all that common??

@Bongley sorry this emby didn't take.
@Charlie74 I got no quality info on my embies either and I'm with Monash. Even with the Lone Ranger untested day 6 frozen one which is all I have, I have no idea as to its quality. It's probably a double edged sword getting info on quality as so many people put in so called low quality embryos that take. My niece had a day 3 fragmented poor quality embryo out back in and that embryo is now a two year old. Looking at grading you wouldn't have put it back in.

what I do know is that my embryo that got PGD tested and had a list of chromosomal abnormalities as long as your arm was the one that was the furthest ahead in development and was a blastocyst on day 5. So it makes me wonder what they can really tell about " quality".

I remember reading some stats about double transfer awhile back (can't remember exactly where I read it). Firstly transfering 2 only increased your chances of pregnancy by 5%. Not double it or anything near that. Secondly the likelihood of having twins from a double transfer was 50%. So if you want to play russian roulette the odds are, well ,even. Most clinic seem to have a single embie transfer policy but both my clinics (I have had IVFA and Genea) have done Iit for me when I have insisted. They are also more likely to do it for us over 40's.

Whatever happens I won't be adopting them I'm afraid. As much as I'd love a house full of cats, I already have two and am not allowed a dog at this house - we're renting. I am just going to feed the two of them up and hope for the best.
@Infinity, I have that your little egg is fertilised successfully for you. When will you be called to find out for sure? Hopefully it all goes smoothly, and I'm pleased you're not too uncomfortable.

Re: The double transfers, I actually asked my FS about that and he was dead-set against it for me. I'm not sure why exactly, I do know that he said the success rates don't double with 2 embies vs 1? Not that I ever planned on having twins anyway, ever since I was young I only ever wanted one child. Anyway, with so few eggs I just always went along with transferring one at a time, to give the best possible chance to each emby.

It's a very personal decision I think. And hey, you have one glorious egg now so one it is! I hope this is your take home baby, love.

Got the update from the scientist! 2 x 8 cell blasts and 1 x 7 cell that they are really happy with. I will get one of the 8 cells on MON transferred and they will see what can be frozen.

2 x 6 cell which are moving along a bit slower but they will keep an eye on them too, my have been known to be slow growers, lol...

Hi ladies. I had a bfn after my transfer this month.
I am finally home from interstate work conferences and had another look at the embryo they transferred. We have 3xgrade a and 2xgrade b on ice (one used but not sure which one, they didn't say). I have attached the photo of what was transferred. It looks nothing like the photo we were shown when the fresh transfer was cancelled. I had great reassurance from you ladies about the embies defrosting and looking different. I should stop doubting and second guessing but I just can't stop it....
What do you guys think? I hope you can see it.
Thank you for your advice, I have been following along and wish you all lots of baby dust! Congrats to Julie on the twins!!

Yes because the likelihood of twins from a double transfer with your own eggs after 40 are probably in the single figures % wise.

God knows the live birth rate for a woman 40 plus is in the 10-15% at best!! As far as I'm concerned...it's nothing but a $ grab when double transfers aren't offered for women in their late 30's onwards.

@Corbes Did the FS elaborate as to why you don't get a choice??

Actually...it should be up to the Embryogist to choose more than your FS if that's the way he wants to play it.
