ouch. I hope you can't feel it. my first clinic I had a bit of anaesthetic, and second some kind of drug that makes you forget. though I think it wore off a bit earlier this last time as I do remember a bit. I could see them draining the follicles and a cyst (or 2 close together). it didn't hurt, but did feel uncomfortable for a bit (maybe it was just seeing the needle drain that made me think that). the first one, I don't remember a thing, even part of sitting back in the recovery room. DP had to tell me all about it. apparently I was talking through it when they asked questions but I didn't remember. that's a weird feeling. I remember the anaesthetic times, though they didn't hurt - they hurt more afterwards though.

I was actually reading about non anaesthetic egg retrieval just yesterday. A young girl, who I believe went to Bump IVF, wrote of her experience in a very positive light.

That wouldn't stop me being crap-scared of having it done that way mind you - I had presumed, in my innocence, that it was always done under a general anaesthetic since that was how I had mine done!

I'm sure you will be fine though @Infinity. You'll just chalk it up to 'doing what you have to do' to get to your end result, just as we do with all the needles and scans and poking and prodding.

@winsor @Blossom74 my first cycle i had GA dont remember a thing. 4 other cycles i had light sedation= fentynl and local anesthesia. A little painful but nothing horrendous. The only time it was truly uncomfortable was when there were 7 foliicles but no eggs. They were digging around looking for them yep quite awful. Ive never had it done on just gas but i figure it saves me like $3000 so i will try it at least once lol im sure i will let you know on friday. If im a little drunk and typing you will know it wasnt great haha

You'll be fine love, don't stress

And in some good news (yes, I know, very unlike me....) my neighbour is finally home. She said she got a threatening call from her ex and left town until things settled down.

Apparently she left plenty of food and water for the kitten (whom I have now seen, and yes, she's fine) and a full sack of dog food with a bucket of water for the dog, but gutso ate the whole lot so there was none left. Good thing I was popping by with leftovers every morning after all!

She thanked me for looking after them, and said she hated leaving them but had to get out for her own safety.

At least everyone is ok at the end of it all....

    Default IVF over 40 #19

My EPU with my 2nd clinic was fentanyl & local anaesthetic. Not too bad at all, second time round I asked for a top up which they gave me. I'm always shoddy coming out of a general anaesthetic so I find the fentanyl way a lot better for me 😊
Don't know about the gas & Valium though @infinity888 , hope it goes ok.
