I feel bad for DS2, he tried to stop him and still got punished.

Maybe ask DS1 what he thinks his punishment should be?

I bet you were devastated considering you use nail scissors on your lawn and iron your gussets and things...
@Mod-Nomsie I agree that the dollar value for chores seems appropriate. He probably doesn't know why he did it so can't answer that question!

It's good that DS2 was trying to get him to stop, that takes some guts... You must be spewing 😳

    "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"

Followed by a cold compress held gently to my forehead!

To say I was 'not happy' would be an understatement 😾

Ds2 did come into the lounge for a chat and we stressed to him he wasn't in trouble. He said it happened too quick for him to tell us, and we told him he had done the right thing and we gave him plenty of hugs.

I will write up a list of jobs today. Thanks for your input everyone.

And mokey I feel a lot better knowing about your milky floor scenario!

Update: did not go down well. There was screaming, tears, tantrums, slamming doors and sobs of "why do you hate me?"

It has all calme down now. He was the only one going to school today while the rest of the family went to a neighbouring larger town for a medical appt for ds2. He is now coming with us as I felt he was feeling very left out. I'm not keen on them missing a day off school but I'm very aware they have both had a massive upheaval with moving, ds2 having an operation and then getting a dog bite a few weeks later etc.

We talked the lost through- he was convinced I had purposely made all the jobs too hard because he was focused on the one he had never done before- making beds. It also has the highest value *because* it's a new skill but once I explained that a few of these jobs were super easy and all it would take was a few days he has settle right down again
Now to just make sure we follow through!
