Someone asked what I meant by day 15 two months. What I meant was my cycle is very regular and on the last 2 months, day 15 rolls around and band there is the ewcm.

I was thinking of buying an at home ovulation tester or going to the doctor to do the blood test. I never notice s temperature change so not sure how accurate that would be.

I know 6 months for some is nothing but it feels like forever when you count down for the right time and then count down to the period. It's a vicious cycle.
Yeah that was me asking. Only because I get the ewcm a number of days before ovulation and sometimes after so that might not be your ovulation day. I found OPK's were great so you can know when it's good timing to BD. Unfortunately the OPK's don't guarantee an actual ovulation occurs as they just predict it's about to happen. If you want to know that ovulation occurred then charting your temp can tell you that.

I agree that GP's are not always too helpful. Best to get a referral to a Fertility specialist like others have said.

The temperature rise/fall is so minor you would never notice it, and it's not something a regular thermometer would pick up. You need to get a special Basal body temp thermometer from chemist or online. Then check your temp every morning (internally, up the j), at exactly the same time before you get out of bed or do anything else (to 2 decimal places). And chart it every day.

I hesitated for ages before trying temping because it sounded like too much work and room for error. But my acupuncturist insisted on it so I did it, and was amazed. You get used to temping pretty soon. Fertility Friend is a great app if you decide to go down this path. It gives you something to do while you're waiting for blood tests etc (which can only be done at specific times of the month, so results can be months away).

For me I was also unsure if I was ovulating. I am still unsure if I ovulated in those cycles where I didn't temp. Having both an opk and temperature spike point to ovulation made me really sure (and a consequent BFP confirmed it!).

Unfortunately it does take time to confirm you are ovulating either way. There isn't really a simple fast way to know, it's such a small window and then you have to wait another month. I fully get how frustrating that is.

I thought temping was amazing too. I felt like I really understood my cycle and I could predict when AF was about to hit! You need to do in conjunction with OPK though because it's not helpful to just know after you have ovulated.

Yes, you need the right type of thermometer. They're quite cheap. I just took temperature in my mouth though, and that was fine for me :-)

    Default Same boat

    Hey First time tryer,

My story is fairly similar to yours in many ways I'm also 29, active & healthy in all other respects. My partner is 45 so after 9months of TTC I opted in for some fertility tests for us both...ironically I was the one with the issues (low AMH/high FSH).
We were advised to start IVF as soon as possible. I had my first set of bloods back on Friday but the results were not good - FSH still high at 16, and oestrogen was very low. The latter was most likely due to my marathon training and years of running which have virtually switched off my pituitary glands
I have an ultrasound booked for Monday but chances are this round will be cancelled. Slightly gutted by this prediction but I have no other option but to pick myself up and go again. I'm aware we are likely to be in this for several cycles and DH is totally supportive, but it's always nice to share similar experiences with other ladies on here!!
    Xx

I've been trying naturally for the last 6 months. I am days away from my period being due. My periods are regular with regularly timed egg white mucus. Day 15 the last 2 months exactly. My concern is this, if I see egg white is that a guarantee I am ovulating? Or just a sign I'm about to but may not be?

I'm 29, don't smoke or drink, go to the gym, am 159cm and weight about 50kg, I'm perfectly healthy - just no luck yet.

I worry I may not be ovulating or I'll need IVF. All things maybe not worth worrying about but they cross your mind after months and months.

Anyone know anything about the egg white mucus and guarantees you're ovulating?

I am hoping all is okay and it's just not been my time yet. Any info or support would be great. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for your comments and feedback.

And yep my period has arrived so preparing to start the next month!

I have a doctors appointment this week to to see what tests we should be looking into.
If that may take months though I may also buy the thermometer and a OPK in the mean time.

Thank you all again, keep any info or stories coming through xx
