    Default Newbie!

Hi everyone! I'm a new member from Adelaide. My partner and I are trying to conceive and are seeing Dr Simona Fischer at Adelaide Obs & Fert. She's really nice and explains everything really well, but I thought I would just have IVF and she's suggesting trying a Clomid cycle first.... Has anyone taken Clomid before? She said because i'm young and my AMH is quite good I probably just need to have my ovulation boosted and tracked. I didn't even know there was another option besides IVF I feel a bit silly!

Any stories or advice would help!

    Sally

    Hi Sally87,
Welcome! do you have a specific medical condition as to why you dont ovulate?

Hi Sally, most women will try a few Clomid cycles first, then move to IUI then onto IVF. Unless there is an indication that Clomid (or IUI) are unlikely to work like blocked tubes or low sperm count, there is really no need to move straight to IVF. I myself did 2 Clomid cycles while awaiting test results/surgery but we went into IVF due to Ogliopsermia (very low sperm count).

Thanks for all your support girls! I am doing some cycle tracking to find out when I ovulate and then I will try clomid. I have a fibroid and because of heavy periods I was on Depo Provera which has affected me returning to normal cycles. I really trust my OBGYN so I wasn't really worried about taking clomid but it's so nice to talk to other people going through the same thing!
