First: register on the Donor Egg Agency websites and start looking through profiles. You don't have to choose, just start to become familiar with the info differnet Agencies offer and the types of women who are offering to donate. If you go for a country that doesn't offer you the choice (eg Greece) then obviously skip this step and go straight to teh IVF Clinic and talk to them about where they source donors from etc.

Second: Contact the/a few Clinics in the country and ask them questions about their processes, doctors, costs, timings, what happens if there are no eggs/embryo's to use when you are over there, everything you can possibly think of !

Concurrently: Get started on vitamins - 1000mg Vit E to improve your lining and pre-pregnancy like Elevit. If you have ever had any doubts about needing Immune help, get onto that in Aus NOW.

Then, enjoy the journey - it is nowhere near as overwhelming as it feels at the beginning.

Hi @MamaKes once we decided on SA I signed up with all of the accredited donor agencies. It is without cost and obligation free. It gives you access to their donor databases and you can begin to get a feel for the information provided. I found that 2 agencies had a basic profile for donors online but an email request for more info was promptly replied to. I reviewed the profiles for a few weeks to get comfortable and then built my spreadsheet I described several pages back and then chose the donor from those on my spreadsheet.

    good luck with your search

Hi Girls, good luck to all the girls in SA at the moment. I'm still in the early stages of making decisions. Does anyone know all the names of the donor egg agencies? I have a couple but don't want to miss any.

Also has anyone done Pgd over there on donor eggs and know the timeline?

Thanks so much ECM. What if I choose a donor in Johannesburg but my clinic is Cfc in Cape Town? Will they travel or do I need to look at s different clinic in Johannesburg? Sorry for the million questions.

Lastchance, some donors will travel from Jo'berg to CT but you will have to pay their travelling costs.

Hi juliemalooley I was going on my own but had a crap attack over it. My baby (I use that term loosely as she's 34) sister is flying over from Ireland to support me😀

I'm back on the pred and have turned into the hulk. Not happy but I has to be worth it. Right?

Lolly99 I would love to catch up if you are free someday. I can't pm yet as I haven't done enough posts on here yet.

LastChance: CFC have a list of donor agencies they like to work with and includes their in house agency (EDSA) plus others like Sunshine (who we used), Nurture, etc, etc. I think if you email CFC for their initial information pack, it includes the list of agencies.

And it should say on their profile whether or not they are willing to travel. Good luck

Last chance - my donor didn't live in Cape Town but was willing to travel. We paid for her plane tickets and accommodation. I think it was between $500-$1000. But much preferable for us than going to JBurg.
