    Default New and confused

    Hi All,
I'm new to all this so not up on all the lingo, myself and my husband have wanted to start trying to conceive for the last 9 months!!!
I had been taking the Depo shot for 8 years with 2 breaks in between, first break was for a year got one period and went back on, then took a break 3 years ago and got 2 pretty awful periods, anyways got married a year ago and decided we wanted a family had my last shot last October which should have run out by Jan 15, so iv patiently waited for a period for the last 8 months, in July I went to see a specialist who sent me for a whole heap of blood tests and then for a HyCoSy (I'm still confused as to why) and my husband for a sperm analysis, so in the mean time I got a period in August and then started to bleed a bit again on day 14 and same happened this month, my cycle though seemed to be 26 days. When I went back to the specialist early September she told me I had poly cystic ovaries and that the period I had was fake and that the sperm analysis was bad (from my own research it's borderline everything was good apart from morph at 6) anyways we were both very upset with this outcome as she told us our only option is IVF!!!!!! We're a young healthy couple who feel gutted!

Welcome Kenso, sorry to hear of your struggles. I'd really be getting a second opinion. It's pretty common to have irregular periods after coming off birth control. Perhaps you could try something like Vitex to regulate your hormones and cycles and see if that helps. Hubby could start menevit if he hasn't already. IVF is an expensive, emotionally and physically taxing journey. You'll want to make sure it's definitely what you need before embarking. Best of luck

Hi Bel2466, thank you for your response, yes we will definitely be seeking a second opinion but need to give ourselves a bit of time to get over our last appointment and find a new doctor , it felt like the last one was telling us what suited her and what way she could make lots of money from us!! Because of my cycle we have not even properly tried to Concieve so I don't know why she even thinks we need IVF straight off!! He started menovit a couple of weeks ago and I actually just bought some Vitex yesterday so hopefully they will both help.
