    You are most definitely correct! It's the same order you use when setting the table.

    Ours goes forks, knives, big spoons, junk cutlery(plastic ones, spatula if it ends up in there, tongs etc) and lil spoons at the bottom. Just the way kiddo organsied it for me one day and its been kept that way since.

    We do forks, knifes, spoons with teaspoons in the small slot and random kids stuff around the edge.

    Yes, this is correct and your Au pair is wrong! That would bug me too, I'm a bit anal with little things like that in my own home.
