Im at the park. The only people here are me, dd1, dd2 and a girl who looks to be 3. Dp is in the car and there is another car in the carpark about 100m away with someone sitting in it reading a book but there are so many trees, play equipment and a toilet block in the way for that person to see this little girl even 20% of the time. It is an enclosed park but there are multiple entry/exits. Anyone could take her. She can only be seen by the person in the car on 3 of the 13 pieces of play equipment.

Personally I like to be able to see my kids at least most of the time

In that instance it did because I carried him. If I wasn't nearby I am not sure how long he could have held on himself before he dropped.

I am sending my ds to school when he is 4.5yo so I guess different parents are protective about different things.

Assuming the person in the other is the parent of the girl, why can't they get out of the car and read their book?

It is freaking freezing but that's not a good enough excuse for me. I'm freezing my butt off. Fair enough if the park was in full view but it's not. Until we got here the girl was playing by herself. The park is at a guess minimum 4 quarter acre house blocks in size.

I agree with you. They should not be in the car.

What's with getting up Maxwell's Silver Hammer for how she handles her kid's daycare? She didn't ask for opinions or advice on that but lots are throwing their two cents in. She's cool with it, the carers are apparently cool with it, so why bother commenting on it when it's not asked for or related to the OP?

Turns out the girl was 5. We were about to leave and I was contemplating knocking on the mums car door when she got out quickly, thanked me for watching over her girl then took off to go supervise her.

Dp asked if I had posted anything on Facebook about it because the way she thanked me seemed totally random...

D's 3 (3yrs) is in the red shirt. I was sitting on the edge of wall the keeps the water in. About 15 to 20 metres away. He didn't need me and he enjoyed the freedom of playing on his own.

I have a 4yr old ds and an 18mth old dd. I'm always close by watching and have at times even got on the equipment with them. Not because I'm seriously over the top protective but because I like it as much as they do sometimes!
