Default Centrelink Question - new start & family tax benefit???

    Hi,

So without going into details, my husband has lost his job. I'm a stay at home mum.

Just wanted to know what payments we may be entitled to until he finds a job again?

(Not wanting to know specific $$ amounts, jus the generic info).

So I know for sure my husband will get new start job search payments. & from what I understand, I'll get something called "partner parenting payment" which is essentially like a "new start" for me too...

And I'm assuming we may be entitled to rent assistance too??

But what happens to family tax benefit a & b ? Do they get cancelled if we go on the parenting payment?

Just want to make sure I apply for the right things

    TIA

You will still get family tax a&b (full amount) and partnered parenting payment (full amount).

My DH did a degree last year and we got roughly $450 austudy (DH) $500 family tax a&b and $550 partnered parenting payment per fortnight.

    We have 2 children.

No, the rate for both family tax a and b may actually go up to the maximum amount if your not already on the maximum. You would also be entitled to rent assistance too I believe. There is online estimators but make sure you register and make an appointment with Centrelink as they will only back pay from your first contact with them.
