    Default Recommendations for GP's in Perth to assist in fertility issues and TTC

    Hi all I was wondering if anyone out there is in Perth and has found a great GP that they would be willing to privately message me about.

    I am looking to find a GP who will support me trying to discover why I am having trouble trying to conceive, my current one is not being very helpful with this and I really need to get moving on it as that biological clock is ticking faster and faster.

    I live in Ellenbrook but am happy to travel if I can find the right doctor. I would prefer a female doctor but at this point am willing to consider anyone who is reputed to be good.

    I'm sorry you are going through this. Have you considered seeing a specialist?

    In my experience, GPs don't really do much except maybe order a semen analysis for your partner and order blood tests for you to check if you've ovulated. If you've been trying for 12 months+ or close to, you'd be much better off just asking your GP for a referral to a fertility specialist. They do much more thorough investigations into infertility than a GP ever will. I'd highly recommend Fertility Specialists of WA in Claremont.

    my GP currently is refusing to refer me due to my weight as she says even investigating why would be seen to potentially support a high risk pregnancy mind you that was a year ago and I've only lost 16kgs so far but still 14kgs to go to get to a point where she will refer and I just can't wait anymore I'm almost 37 and hubby 44

    Find another GP & get a referral to a specialist. We mucked around with the GP for 12 months and in hindsight I wish we'd gone straight for referral.
    Ring a clinic (I used Pivet in Leederville, but Fertility North will be closer to you), book an appointment, go to a random GP and say "I have an apt with xyz clinic on abc date can I please have a referral"
    Sounds like you have made great progress with your weight, congratulations! A FS will be able to run all the tests to find out if there is a reason for your problems conceiving even if they won't start treatment until you reach a certain weight.
    I know pivet won't start IVF unless your BMI is under 35 but not all clinics are the same.

    Dr Baines at woodlake medical in ellenbrook is meant to be great and as for a fertility clinic Hollywood is the best

    Don't go to a clinic because it's close...

    Also, agree with getting a referral asap. Everything with the fertility investigations & procedures take sooo long.
