    Question Where would you stay?

We are heading to Mackay next month for 10 days.

We fly out of Perth at 4:15pm to Brisbane and get into Brisbane at 10:40 (8:40 wa time) DH wants to stay in the city near South Bank, I want to stay close to airport so we can get DS asleep ASAP, we have a 6 hour drive to Perth before we even step foot on a plane.

So my question is, would you stay near airport or travel into the city so you can explore the next day?

Our flight to Mackay isn't until 4pm on the Saturday.

I want to explore, but I also know DS will be so grumpy byt the time we get there....

Also Brisbane Hubbers - Any places we should go/avoid? I've googled South Bank and they have a tour every day that would be cool to do.

The Queensland museum has a dinosaur discovery on until 5 October if you are there before then.

As for your accommodation, personally I'd stay in South Bank - you'd still need to get them into a hire car/train/taxi/shuttle bus and then get them to the accommodation. It would only be an extra 30 mins max to South bank I'd think.

Hi! I'm in Brisbane. Honestly, there is nowhere to stay near the airport (apart from a Novotel which has a DFO and a few other shops) close by. It takes maybe 20-30 mins to get to the city. I'd stay in Southbank over the city. You have parklands closeby, the museum (with dinosaurs!), and even if you did want to pop over to the other side of the river it is so easy! Can't help with actual hotels. Not sure how old your DS is but I have travelled with my DS when he was 6 months, 18 months (overseas!), just over 2 and he had naps on the plane etc. Has your DS travelled on a plane before?

He's been on a plane twice, 8 months and 26 months loves it and sometimes sleeps but the last time it was a huge adventure so he didn't sleep....

We looked at Novatel because of closeness but DH wants to stay in city so think we will look at the city

I would honestly stay in the city. It would still take 10 mins to get to the Novotel and there is.. nothing there. Great that your DS likes planes! Mine loooves taking off and landing soooo much.

He has grommets so we give him lolly pops when we take off and land and he love it!

    Default Where would you stay?

A other vote for closer in, it's not that far from the airport,
Another option is to stay in Hamilton ( heaps of accomodation along Kingsford Smith drive) and get the city cat into the city or Southbank

I've stayed in Mantra Midtown on Charlotte St a couple of times. Pretty easy trip from the airport and walking distance to South Bank, Botanic Gardens and the ferry terminal. Enjoy your trip!

We stayed at Rydges at Southbank when a friend and i flew down a few weeks ago. It was wonderful and i wouldn't hesitate to take the kids there. So much to do and see within a short walk distance. We paid a bit extra to have a chauffeur to and from the airport- no stressing about getting there on time!

    Btw, i live in mackay
