Default Christmas gift for teachers etc

I know Xmas is still a little while off (though it is creeping up on us very quickly) but I am trying to get ahead of myself. I have in-laws coming from overseas for Xmas this year so I want to be as organized as I can and I was thinking about what I had to get done before they get here (my Saturday nights are so exciting ... Don't hate me because of how exciting they are) and it just occurred to me that DS is going to kinder this year so we are going to have to get his teachers presents. He also has a key work who comes fortnightly so it would be nice to give her a little something. Do I then give his therapists and Drs a gift as well?

But what would you suggest. I have no idea what these people like. I don't know if they have any allergies. I basically don't know anything about them other than their job. How would I even find out anything useful (present wise) about them?

So for teachers out there what gifts do you like getting?
For parents what gifts have you givin in the past or might be giving this year?

    Thanks

Not sure how much you want to spend, but some favourite gifts I've received have been
    - Nice Christmas ornament
    - Voucher for a Pedi
    - Movie tickets
    - Wine
    - Food related gifts
    - Little beauty package with good quality products
    - Scratchies
    - Scarf
That's all I can think of for now.
Note, candles usually always get re-gifted or given away because I like choosing my own scents.

Any vouchers are good and so appreciated!

Think- Book store vouchers. Department Store like Target, Myer, DJ etc.

Last year my boys gave their teacher the cookies in a jar- basically the dry mix for biscuits and all she had to do was empty it into a bowl and add the wet ingredients. You need to find a recipe that is throw everything into the bowl and mix otherwise it won't work.

Don't do toiletries like soaps or body washes etc. Chocolate is ok, but we get a LOT of chocolates at the end of the year.

A homemade gift from your child/ren is always appreciated too.

Pinterest has LOTS of awesome ideas for teacher gifts- some great gift baskets to homemade gifts etc.

I agree - please no chocolate!

Honestly, my favourite gifts are just cards with a message of appreciation. I spend hours of my life thinking about my kids, and it's nice to feel that I have been appreciated or noticed or made a positive difference in some way.
