I'm hoping possibly me! But I'm not sure of the process, So I apologise if I'm posting in the wrong section. I'm Going for my appointment on Wednesday where apparently they are going to walk me through the process and give me the scripts for the medication. Apparently I can start taking the medication the day after my next period.
I really have no idea what happens next. I have just recovered from an op in which they removed both my Fallopian tubes. Been TTC for a year now, looking forward to starting IVF and getting one step closer to becoming a mother!

    Hi @pillowhead

Yes! Sounds like you are in the right spot to me

I did my first Ivf cycle in Sept 2013 and now have a 14 month old daughter and 4 frozen embryos from that cycle. I joined bubhub when I was cycling back then and still in contact with those ladies. The support really helped! Anyway we went back to our fertility specialist last week as we want to try for #2 so just have to re-do our blood tests and can start. We've decided to start in my October cycle, which will be right at the end of that month.

There are a few different protocols but a common one if you are on your first cycle is called a down reg cycle. That's the type I did and I started in August 2013, the first month was more or less setting up for the following month- I had my egg collection end of Sept and got a bfp mid Oct. If you end up doing a down reg cycle, we will probably be both be doing pregnancy tests at a similar time.
We had been ttc for 16 months all up and found out half way through ttc journey that hubby's sperm count is low and the quality is ok but could be better. I really hope Ivf makes your dream come true like it has for me!

Oh yay! Thanks @Annerley (not sure how I tag you in the post).
I really hope I have the same success as you did with your first child it's also great to think that we might be having tests at a similar time. It will be nice to talk to others going through the same thing. I look forward to it!

    Yay your tag worked @pillowhead

I bet you're excited to get started too! Any idea when your cycle will start? I guess it depends when af arrives. Let me know how your appointment goes tomorrow- good luck!

My appointment was great, they walked me through the process & gave me all the scripts I need (I went straight to the pharmacy after and bought it all!). They said to call as soon as my period starts and then I begin taking the Gonal F injections the next day. I was getting pretty excited about the fact that I could be pregnant pretty soon, then I checked my diary and realized my husband and I had booked a holiday for a week starting on the 23rd... So upset, I'll be on holidays when I need to get my eggs collected! Which means I will probably have to postpone for another month. I hate that the holiday is in the way. I'm in denial hoping that somehow I can make it work but Hubby won't let me cancel the holiday as we have already paid for it and he thinks we could do with a break from all the things we have been through lately. I know I'm the scheme of things it's nothing to complain about but doesn't make it any less of a bummer!

Happy to hear that your appointment went so well!
That's a shame that your cycle won't start exactly when you were planning. The good news is that you are going straight to the injections, I had basically a month of taking the pill (they actually start some Ivf cycles by getting you to take the pill for a couple of weeks, it's a bit strange!) and then about 2 weeks using a nasal spray with a few days of overlap between the pill and spray. It meant my Ivf cycle went over 2 months. It sounds like yours will only take a month, which is great news! You will likely do your pregnancy test a couple of weeks before mine will be due to be done :-)

Where are you off to on your holiday? We are going away for almost 4 weeks from the 20th sept so will come home just in time to start. We were originally going to start end of Nov but bought it forward as our fertility specialist pointed out that the clinic closes for Christmas mid dec so they wouldn't accept us if my cycle started too late in Nov. I can definitely understand your disappointment but hubby might be right and the break could do some good!

Oh I had know idea IVF could start so differently - pills and nasal spray, who would have thought! I'm excited that we could possibly be testing around the same time. It's so nice to talk to someone else going through the same thing.
We are going to Perth for our holiday. Where are you going?
So crazy to think we have to factor in Christmas break, can't believe it's almost here! Time has gone so quickly.
If you don't mind me asking, how much does your clinic charge out of pocket for IVF?

I've never been to WA myself! What state are you from? I'm in NSW.
we are off to Hawaii and Tahiti. I really can't wait. I've been to Hawaii already but it's been a dream of mine to go to Tahiti

This year has gone by so quick! It feels like yesterday that I was celebrating my 30th birthday, our daughter was only 4mths old back then and now my birthday will be coming around again about 10days after we get back from our trip. It's crazy!

With our cycle, we had to do ICSI, which is slightly more expensive than regular Ivf - that was due to hubby's sperm. I kept our accounts booklet and just checked it for you. We paid $9302 and got $5585 back from Medicare so were $3716 out of pocket. We also had to pay our hospital excess on our private health for both the egg collection and egg transfer so that was $100 each time so pretty much we paid just under $4k all up. For the frozen transfer, based on 2013 prices, we will only be $1745 out of pocket plus $100 excess for the egg transfer. I'm assuming the price has possibly changed a little since then.
From memory, it took about 3 weeks to get the money back from Medicare.

I've never been to WA either! We went to Europe last year and we would have loved to go to America this year but don't have the money so settled for Perth
We live in country NSW, have to travel to get to our fertility clinic. Yesterday on the way home from our appointment a stone hit out car a smashed the windscreen! So annoying.
    Tahiti and Hawaii sounds amazing!
I've only just recently had my 28th birthday.
From what I understand it will roughly cost us out of pocket $3000 after money back from Medicare. Plus the cost of the medications ($200) & cost of freezing eggs ($500)& my private health excess ($300). So over $4000.

I'm starting to look forward to our holiday. It will be nice to get away and relax, nice and recharged for my first cycle.
How did you find the needles? When I went to the pharmacy and they handed over all the packets I nearly fell over haha. I'm not such a big fan of needles, definitely not my favourite part of it all!
