Lol ya. After the experience with epi, I am also an advocate for it. I still felt the pressure while pushing and screamed the head off. Haha....well, I have 2nd tear. Still recovering!

Bub doesn't like to sleep either. We are lucky if he sleeps more than 1 hr these days. lucky u about the BF. Struggling at the moment and the avent teat is way too fast for him. We r now thinking to buy the whole new set of bottles but have to experiment teat first. Sigh.

@bbhope getting Bub to sleep is hard now cos he's hungry. Colostrum doesn't seem to be enough cos he's big and eats a lot. I have a plan. No more long feeds cos not sure I'm making enough colostrum. He seems to like sleeping for 4-7hrs then feeding for 3 hrs but I won't have enough colostrum to continuously feed him for that long. So now during the day I'll wake him every 2-3 hrs for a feed of max 1 hr. Hopefully that way he'll get enough food. Life of breastfeeding. Either that or I'll have to supplement which I don't want to cos he's latching fine. But if I get too sleep deprived I'll have to.

Do you girls have sore nipples from BF? The sales person at baby bunting told me to start applying now so nipples are nice and soft when baby is born. I'll ask my doctor when I see him this week then start doing it if he thinks it's a good idea.
@Gelati 3 hours of feeding is a long time! Your plan sounds good though. Hopefully your son gets into the new routine. It's awesome that he's latching well though.
@bbhope can you try a different teat and see how you go? There are multiple brands out there and I wish there aren't so many options. I've got the avent bottles so hopefully Bub will like it. But I'm also hoping that I don't need newborn bottle although I already bought it.

What steriliser do you girls have?

Epi sounds like a go-er. Met the midwife at hospital to sign some consent forms and discuss birth plan. I just told her I only have plan to get the baby out. No specific details. If possible no epi and natural but let's play it by ear. I could be having a whopper 4 kg baby as well.

Oh I've got most things already. The only things I have to buy is breast pad, breast cream and thermometer. Got everything else. Just need to pack hospital bags now.

@Minib that is a good plan. Keep an open mind. Hopefully you can go completely natural but if not you have options which is great. Don't know how they coped in the old days with no drugs! Omg I think I would have died.

Yes 3 hrs can you believe it?? My plan is working so far. Fingers crossed for tonight.

No chapped Nipples so far even with 3 hrs sucking. I guess that's when you know latching is ok. I still put lanisoh cream on here and there just in case. I also didn't put any creams on before but check your nipples. If they are dark, larger and longer you are likely to have less problems with latching. Make sure they do skin to skin contact straight away and get them to feed during that time. It really makes a difference.

I have avent steriliser and bottles. @bbhope I heard the pigeon ones for newborn can be quite good?

Which avent steriliser did you get @Gelati? I also have avent bottles. Tossing up between electric or microwave steriliser.

Hm I have bigger, larger, longer and dark nipples. So I might be ok?

I'm trying not to pack hospital bag yet so I don't jinx myself for an early labour. But I'm so excited I can't wait!

Sounds like your son is latching very well. 3 hours and no chapped nipples @Gelati wow!

    I have avent steam sterilizer.

Sometime bub is latching fine but sometime he is a lazy sucker. My nipples used to be dark but now has discoloured to pink. I don't think it is super sore or anything like that. I am using lansinoh every now and then. I just hope that i don't get matitis.

3 hrs feeding?! Wow......hospital sent us with textbook instruction with feeding every 3 hrs when we were there. You will soon find out that it is quite impractical in real life because bub doesn't sleep for 2hrs and feed for 1 hr! It is more like the other way around. It is quite important for my bub to get fed every 3 hrs at the beginning to increase the blood sugar level. We had to wake him up for feed once in a while.......

I have a skin-to-skin contact after birth. Bub sucked but i didn't have any milk or colostrum for him.....

I am posting on the other thread about the avent bottle. Apparently, it isn't just us that having trouble with avent bottles. They leak. We really dislikes them. Their newborn teat is flowing too fast for bub as well. I really don't know why everyone is buying them. Perhaps all the marketing heap. The cheapy looking ones provided by the hospital are working so much better. I just did a quick trip to baby bunting to grab a pigeon narrow neck bottle and a Y-teat (variable flowing) for trying. I can't believe that the pigeon teats are out of stock! So a wasted trip.

ps: actually i think Y teat is more older babies.......grr......
