Default Toy for 6yr old boy. What's your child's favourite?

Ds turned 6 today and TWO of the toys we bought him fail to work or broke :-(
One was this hot wheels cannon launcher that doesn't work and the other is this AirHogs roller copter that broke.
He has been quite positive about it all, and said it's ok, but I feel sorry for him.
I want to surprise him tomorrow with a new toy. Something that will put a smile on his face.
I have no idea what to get now.
So far I'm planning a trip to Target. Is there anything in their current catalogue worth checking out?

That's bad that the toys have broken already! Can you exchange them?? I haven't seen the catalogue, but mine loves jigsaw puzzles, dragons, dinosaurs and cars if that helps.

One was from an eBay store (I've emailed them) and the other I've lost the store receipt, but I emailed Air Hogs.

Happy birthday to your DS! Such a shame the toys he got broke already 😟.

My DS is 7 and he loves the super hero/ dinosaur mash ups. You generally need to buy 2 packs to make them mash up. They cost about $25 for each pack. Lots of fun.

Good luck with your shopping, sounds like you have a very grateful, positive little boy.

For his book week costume, but I think he'll love them to play with anyway.
