Default Pregnancy Test - incorrect weeks?

    Hi mums,

I received a positive pregnancy test today with the clear blue tests that list how many weeks pregnant you are.

Has anyone used these and the time frame has been proved to be incorrect?

It said I was 3+ but I reckon I'm only 10 days post conception.

My last period began 3 weeks ago and I'm fairly confident it was a period and not implantation bleeding. I then had slight spotting 10 days ago which I suspected might be implantation bleeding.

    Thanks in advance

I don't know for sure but would assume the test can get it wrong - your HCG levels may just be higher than expected at 10 days, which isn't a problem everyone's are different.

    Again I'm just guessing though.

Yeah, it goes off averages to estimate the timing. It's entirely possible to have really high hcg levels

I've never used them, but weeks are calculated from the first day of your P... so if your P started over 3 weeks ago your 3-4weeks pregnant

If you are sure your dates are correct and there is no chance you conceived earlier than it could be that you have very high hcg. As far as I know (please correct if wrong) the clear blue digi will say 3+ when your hcg is 2000+. That seems unusually high for 10dpo. If that's true I'm thinking it could be a multiple pregnancy (ie. twins).

Tanej78 the clearblue test tell you number of weeks from conception...so if it says 3 weeks, then you are actually 5 weeks from lmp (based on a textbook 28 day cycle) and therefore 5 weeks pregnant.

Fairly certain those tests go by ovulation. So it would say 3 weeks on the test and that is 5 weeks from date of period.

I have had it be a week wrong the other direction (so said 2-3 when it should have said 3+) and I coincidentally ended up miscarrying that pregnancy. I would assume your hcg levels are just higher than the average.

I would probably just keep that in mind and see how far along you are at a dating scan in a few weeks. It's pretty rare to have HCG that high so early, but it is possible.

For me the clear blues have been accurate with weeks in the past and I've had normal, correct for dates pregnancies
