when you work as an inhome care agent you get contracted by an organisation to participate it set hours / days of work (negotiated), you get payed an award rate and are employed and covered with insurance etc

so as a single mum if my lawn mower breaks down and a friend comes and mows it and I give him 20 bucks and a cup of coffee are you telling me he is commiting fraud?

yes she is, but she's wrong.

a private agreement between neighbours or friends does not a business make.

Default Help! I've got no money for bills

Op a big pat on the back for you for taking things into your own hands and looking after your family. I had a right laugh at VP trying to guilt you into something what a joke. Hun you are doing the right thing here best of luck for the tax free future xx

Working as a paid home care worker as a business endeavour or as an employee or contractor is very different to being given a gift or gratuity for doing some shopping. Wait staff don't pay tax on, or declare tips. It isn't fraud, it is just some breathing room built into the taxation system. Frankly, it would be far too costly to administer all of these sorts of declarations. But the point is, op is not doing anything wrong, such as working in a larger, for profit business like a shop or factory etc.

Op, all the best. It feels good when you feel like you are finally clawing your way out of a hole.

I was out watching a favourite band from my youth last night (The Whitlams) and won $125 on the pokies.

    Should I inform Centrelink tomorrow?

So jealous. I would've loved to go see them for some nostalgia. How was it?

There's no aphrodisiac like a pokie win.

OP, it sounds like you've done really well at getting your family out of financial strife. you haven't done anything wrong.

I am not comfortable with seeing someone who reached out for genuine help and support whilst in a dark place say they feel 'sick to the stomach', that is very unsettling to read and to that end, I am going to close the thread.

Thank you most sincerely to those whom offered sincere advice and kind words to the OP.
