Default Looking for a babysitter in Melbourne

Hi all, I'm working in the city next week for a day and need a sitter for DS3 for a few hours in the middle of the day. Anyone got someone they recommend? Or a casual childcare centre?

I would see if there are any occasional cares nearby. Have a look at neighbourhood houses too they often run occasional cares.

Are you staying in a hotel or apartment? Before I was married, I worked for Dial-an-Angel, and was sometimes asked to mind children whose parents were in Melbourne on an interstate trip. I'd go to the hotel or apartment and care for them there. I'd recommend Dial-an-Angel as a very reputable babysitting/nanny agency.

I'm staying in a hotel but will have checked out that morning so am hoping I can find someone who will wheel him round the city in his pram. Or sit in a cafe with him.
I was thinking an agency would be good - apart from the big sign up fee some of them have.

There shouldn't be a sign up fee if you're only using the agency for a casual one off job. The hourly rate that you pay covers the fees that the babysitter has to pay the agency.
How long are you going to need the sitter for? Expecting her to wheel your little one around the city or sit in a cafe for hours, is a pretty big ask. You might struggle to find someone who's willing to do that.

I only need her for 2 hours. I have a work meeting that I can't miss but it's not on my normal work day otherwise I'd leave him in daycare at home and do the trip there and back in the day.
