    Default Does anyone else's children...

    Have the same middle name?

We are considering giving our new baby DD2 the same middle name as DD1. The name is beautiful and classic and it fits so well with both names. Nothing else really compares to the name. I have asked DD1 if she would be okay with sharing her middle name with her new baby sister and she was so excited at the idea, which I thought was lovely. Has anyone else done this or do you share a name with a sibling/family member through tradition or otherwise?

Thoughts? I do feel a bit like 'how unoriginal' but I'm wondering if those are silly thoughts to have and to just use it as it's only a middle name which you don't really use all that often anyway!

    Thanks 😊

Not me but at my school there was a family of three brothers each with the same middle name. I think it's nice, and they were certainly very proud of it.

All the girls in my family including myself share the same middle name. It is because we all loved my grussmutter.

My bestie has the same middle name as her Mum and her MIL, so she decided to give both of her DD's the same middle name as well. She is currently pregnant with #3 and will use the name again if she has another girl. I think it's sweet, and a lovely thing to share.

my cousins both have the same middle name too.

Go for it. I personally know one family where all the children have the mum's surname as their middle name (and no other middle name). No one comments negatively.

    Sounds like a lovely idea

It's tradition on H's side for the boys to have the same middle name.
    Not happening.

How come? Is it a horrible name?

My friends in laws had all first born sons having the same middle name for about 5 generations and she hated it so she refused. Luckily for her, her husband hated the name too.

This is the debate in our household at the moment too. We are having boy #2. DH thinks DS1's middle name is the perfect match the first name we have picked for DS2. It is not a family name from either side so there is no tradition attached. I find it a bit weird but he thinks it would be nice for them to have the same. Time will tell I guess...

DH's sisters all have the same middle name and it is the same as their mums middle name. Funnily enough it is the same as my middle name. DD now also shares the same middle name.
