Poor ds just woke with a nightmare have never heard him scream like that
Dh is on night shift so I brought him into our bed and he had drifted off to zzzz land, wonder if I can trim his nails while he is in here so he didn't scratch me all night.

I've been meaning to come back and write our story but keep forgetting. Will try at naptime!

Until then...we had two good mornings of sleeping until almost 7 after a couple weeks of somewhere between 5-6am. I thought he'd finally gotten over the break in routine from our holiday but this morning 5.15 😩. I don't sleep well even when he does so I find early wake ups even harder. He did go to sleep at 7.05pm last night rather than 6.45pm the other two nights and I think he's the type of kid where that makes the difference.

A different kind of sleep problem today.

Well everyone slept so well after 4 am that we all slept in a whole hour. My boys never sleep in. Why oh why on a school day and not a lazy home day.
Oops kids were late for school.

This happens to us often. Or one will wake extremely early (usually the ones that need us to be up with them) while the others sleep in forever. Does my head in.

Another 5am this morning. I'm starting to miss 5.30 and 5.50. The 6.30 and 6.45 on Monday and Tuesday were obviously to just trick us that he's gotten through whatever the reason is for the early mornings. 😩

Adorned, I read there's an 18 month sleep regression that can cause early morning waking, I think your DS is only 1 or 2 weeks older than mine right? We've had a busy week with nephews visiting so it may just be that his routine is a bit off but he's waking SO happy so I'm not really sure there's much I can do. I leave him until 6 but still hard to try and fall back asleep to the sounds of the party in the cot next to me! I know I need to get out of his room but can't bring myself to, it's purely me, he doesn't care whether I'm in there or not but I fall asleep and back to sleep so much easier. I do wonder if I stayed out if he'd stop waking early because maybe I'm disturbing him.

@HollyGolightly81 yeah my ds is 19 months tomorrow. 17.5-18.5 months was worst for sleep. Not so much early wakings but not going to sleep in the evening and getting out of bed heaps (we cosleep/bedshare).

The last couple of weeks has been much better since I started waking him at 8am (he was sleeping until 9am most of the time beforehand) for childcare which meant by 7.30pm he was ready for sleep. So I think we are over the regression and this is our new normal. He has been waking 630-7am...not to bad but when I was used to sleeping until after 8am it's hard. I still struggle to get to bed before 12am...so last night ended up with 6 hours broken sleep and ds jumped off the bed and ran off at 7am. I'm going to have to make an effort to get to bed earlier. Not easy when dh rarely helps with the bedtime routine or resettling.
