Good luck @Nina k - I've been hoping like mad that mine came a bit earlier, but looks like they are determined to stay in there until the c/s next Tuesday at 37+2. You're already well past the 'viable' 24 weeks so you will be fine

    Hi ladies,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks... Yesterday my suspicions were confirmed... I'm pregnant with twins!! I have been sooooo sick. This is my first pregnancy and I'm 46 years old... so my poor old body is in total shock. I have no children so there is nothing like jumping in the deep end first go!!

We have a farm and I know how to rear baby calves, chickens, puppies, etc.... but i know nothing about the human variety! DH has adult children from a previous relationship and mum is around, so I'm sure I'll get some help and guidance from them!

I am 7 + 1 today and my due date is 4th Jan but it's more likely going to be mid December going by what you have been saying about 37 weeks.

I have been writing down all of your advice and product recommendations as I know NOTHING about baby gear.... So please keep recommending stuff as it will save me wasting money trying to figure it out!!!

    Thanks for your help!

Congrats @CherryCP ! Good idea about keeping notes. I actually ended up with a spreadsheet of 'my' must haves after following everyone's advice and weeded out the excess gadgets. There was a lot of recommendations on baby swaddles though and I've just ended up with a mixed bag of those so will just figure out which are best as we go. It's too easy to spend a fortune if you are not careful. We also have no experience with babies so next week is going to be a huge eye opener for myself and my partner. Just had my first steroid shot for their lungs, another one tomorrow, then finally all done with appointments and c/s on Tuesday at 37+2
I can't actually recommend anything as yet because we haven't quite started using it all

Congratulations cherrycp, how exciting. I'm in the same boat as an older first time mum, except I only have a couple of ponies and a dog. The forum is invaluable. Take care this first trimester, my mum 78, was pooper scooping the ponies for me until I past 12 weeks.

CherryCP - I too as first time mum at 46 with twins but sadly my mum died 6 years ago (but I loved unpacking the box of 'good baby stuff' she had saved from when I was a baby - it was like her present to me). You will be fine ! I knew nothing about babies or stuff so targeted a lot of google and when I came into contact with the midwives before/during/after the birth, I sucked their brains dry with every question I could think of. Don't worry about it, you will be surprised how naturally it all comes to you. Just keep your confidence up and don't get stressed - you have undoubtedly survived lots during the last 46 years - the twins are a wonderful gift/reward for you.

JulieM, how are doing, only two days to go ! You much be so ready (physically) for Tuesday. Best wishes.
Cjocho, have you seen the specialist yet, are you on bed rest? Hope the twins change position so the cords move.
Afm, I gave my obs appointment tomorrow 34w3d, will find out if there's ca change of plan. The sonographer last week said twin a hadn't grown as I much as she'd like, but midwife said not to worry. Have pelvic bone pain now so walking like I have piles!
Cathy, you're posts are always reassuring, thanks.

    Default Twins due in 2016

Actually I'm in hospital now being monitored for high BP. They are keeping me overnight and if it doesn't settle by the morning they may bring it forward to tomorrow. I also have a very low heart rate down around 50 which is unusual for me. Bubs are happy though so still all good 😊
But yes, so, so ready if not somewhat nervous. Suddenly this whole baby biz is a bit real ! I can hear babies crying on the ward !! Very foreign to me.
