    @Corbes Wazza looked after me until 12 weeks (even though he should of released me after my 7 wk scan) & just scanned me in his rooms. He said I could come every week for peace of mind scans if I wanted but we could only afford to get them done fornightly at the time or I would've believe you me!!😁

    I had some issues with anxiety, stress related to my mum's terminal illness, round ligament pain plus I developed an SCH so he was kind enough to keep me on & look after me until the hospital took over.

    I'm pretty sure Medicare will cover what they call an "early dating scan" & possibly growth scans through ultrasound places until an OB takes over. You can ph an ultrasound place near you & find out which scans are covered by Medicare & which one's aren't & how much they'll cost.

    Your GP will write the referral to the ultrasound place then you call & make the appointment as well as the pathology request forms for more BT's of course as well as the hospital referral to Maternity if you go Public.

    If you go straight to a private OB you'll have your scans done there. I don't know if you need a referral for that as I never had one?? Prob not..just ring & book in I think??

    One of the other Lovelies who went to a private OB will know😊

    Yeah you do need a referral for the OB...
    Or do you mean OB scans?
    Depends if the have a machine (not all of them do) - ones done in the OB rooms are generally free but often of questionable quality - they refer you to ultrasound places for the big scans 7w/12w etc. X

    Corbes is this your new clinic or old clinic? I'm not sure how your IVF worked but I had to get an indefinite referral to a fs, not a clinic. I had a natural BFP in April and thought, now what? I called the rooms of my fs, he had a blood test form faxed to my closest pathology and marked it urgent. The following day he emailed me a blood test form and said when he wanted further blood tests, I was just to print it up and date it. He had it marked as urgent and they were all bulk billed.
    Maybe call your fs on Monday if you still have a valid referral and see if they will help.

    Yes you need a referral for an ob. I called a high risk specialist this week who was recommended to me and have an apt next week to meet with him and see what he's like (for the nice sum of $200)and they told me I needed a referral.

    I paid $1,000 to my clinic for the de cycle. That got me scripts, bt and us (only before going to Hawaii) and my hcg bt's. My heartbeat scan I have to pay for, even though when I did embryo banking with them, they charged me the full cycle amount which includes transfer - all 4 frucking cycles, no refund, and if I had gotten pregnant with their ivf the heart beat scan we'd be included!

    Whilst I hate to give them a cent more, I wonder if it is worth it?
    @Petal40 did you get bloods back today?
    No bloods for me. BT not until the 24th. I had a private OB booked in before I had mc, and I did need a referral from my GP but he did scans at his rooms.

    @Corbes Rant away Luv!!!😊👍

    Although individual FS's might & do care about us, the actual Clinic's themselves couldn't give a shiz & just see people as walking $ signs. At the end of the day, they're a business wanting to make as much $ as possible for themselves & their shareholders if they have them.

    Empathy/caring is not a word synonymous with them. Clinical & detached are more accurate IMO/experience....Fruckers!!!👎
