Default Progesterone level on day 21 low

Hi all. I just need advice. I had a miscarriage in March and its now August. I went for the 21 day blood test as my clearblue monitor gave no smily face(no ovulation). The result came back 16 (in aus terms not USA). Dr said it was low but just to carry on because I was having normal monthly periods (range from26 -29 days). Do you suggest I see a fertility specialist for Clomid or just leave it as the Dr puts it. Really want to try for a 3rd child but am 40yrs old. Any advice or someone in similar boat would help.

Could be you ovulated later than day 14 (which is what the 21 day is based on). My doc ordered my test on day 18 because I had 25 day cycles. My progesterone came back at 6!Because I was temping that month I was pretty certain I ovulated late (like day 17) and so he suggested that the low progesterone either indicated that I wasn't ovulating - or that I had ovulated late, as it takes about 5-7 days to peak after ovulation.
It would be helpful if they ordered a test a couple days later to see if it's risen but GPs aren't really that detailed.
I asked to see a FS so I could get more detailed testing. However, it turns out that I fell pregnant that very cycle. So a low number doesn't necessarily mean squat! 😊
If time is a concern then book in with a FS. It can take months to get an appointment and you can cancel if needed. Testing takes time and you don't want to waste months only to end up in the same spot in 6 months time...

I would ask to go to fs. Im on progesterone pressories now and on clomid and my progesterone on clomid alone was 60 and fs wanted atleast 80 so now im on the pressories.. Dont wait. I waited and its been 9 months of test after test tp figure out real issue whichhopefully we have now. Also like pp said u may o late. I do even on clomid. More like cd19 or 20..
Also my sil got regular af but turned out she wasnt o.. Put on clomid andshe got pregnant.. So dont wait.. Goodluck!

Default Thank you so much for your replies

I have been using ovulation strips and they were both red on about day 12 and another month day 14. This month day 12. But the clearblue monitor said low fertility on that day (no smiley face) so that made me think somethings up. Then turned out progesterone 16. So am not too sure about my ovulation date.will start temping this month. Am going back to Dr to get referral as I know how long the wait can be. Just glad to hear clomid can maybe sort the problem out. Dr said some months u don't ovulate and this month is it. I don't believe it.she can't be certain of that just bec I get a regular period. Thanks so much.
