Default Dianne 35, acne and TTC

    Hi,

Looking for some answers as I've had no luck elsewhere.

Has anyone been on Dianne 35 (or similar) for their skin and then gone off it to try and conceive? I have been on it since having my son 4 years ago as I used to have terrible hormonal acne. I came off it for about 3 months in that time and the acne came back with vengeance. My husband and I want to try for baby number 2 but I am terrified about my skin blowing up again. It really effects my confidence massively, working in sales confidence is a big part of my role. I am interested to know who was on it and how long after coming off it you fell pregnant and what (if anything) you did to keep your skin under control in the meantime. I am looking into Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine so would also be interested if anyone has tried this. Thanks so much in advance!

I can't really help but I really hope you conceive before your skin plays up.
I was on Diane35 for years. I came off it & was fine for 4 or so months & then hormones kicked in & skin got bad (just before/on my wedding!). So let's hope u & hubby get to it & get that BFP before it has a chance.
I've heard that Chinese herbs/acupuncture/naturopathy can help. If it's hormonal issues perhaps GP could do a BT once you're off the pill.
It's a horrible confidence killer. I really hope you don't cop it again. GOOD LUCK !

It calmed down on it's own accord. I rarely wear make up, which I know aggravates it, take off sunblock when I get home, don't go crazy on trying to strip the skin - just basic double cleanse & light moisturiser in the PM.
I do get breakouts, esp leading to AF, & it's certainly not like it was on the pill but it's much better than before. Like it took about 4 months to flare up it also took about that to calm down. I was diagnosed w Polycystic ovaries, as I'd also stopped getting AF at that time & so that prompted me to seek further investigation.
You don't have any other problems though when you're off the pill, is AF regular?

In all honesty, I can't even remember. I have been on the pill since I was 15 due to heavy period pain and was only off it for as short time before falling pregnant with my son, I can't remember if they were regular then. I then went off it for about 3 months awhile back to try it but I didn't stay off it long enough to get my periods in a 'rhythm'. They did check me for PCOS and cleared me of it. It is reassuring to know that your skin calmed down in the end. I panicked and just got straight back on it rather than give it more time. Did you get off it to TTC?
