Default WDYT about this Song. Proud mums moment.

My Daughter is an inspiring singer songwriter. She is only 15 but doesn't take my word for it when I show my support. She says I am her Mother and I have to say nice things. While that is true, I still think she is amazing.

She recorded a song at school and they entered it in JJJ unearthed high school comp. I would really love it if you could have a listen and give me some feedback so I can let her know what other people who are not family think of her song.

hey! I'll preface my response by saying I'm in no way shape or form a muso. I just know what I hear and am commenting on that.

your daughter's voice is beautiful, it has a very ethereal quality to it. reminds me a little of Katie noonan (from that band george).

the song "we grew up in the dark" - I assume she also wrote this herself? if so, she's incredibly talented.

the song itself was a little bit flat for me. I kept waiting for it to take me on a journey and give me goosebumps. I found it kind of hovered in that one place and didn't sort of take off for me.

the intro acoustic guitar was beautiful, I felt like the heavier strumming later on didn't do her voice justice. it was too loud and her voice was struggling to shine through. the softer, folksier acoustic at the start was magic and would've made her voice the star of the song.

she definitely sounds like an incredibly talented young woman. I'd be thrilled with half that talent at my age, never mind so much potential in someone so young! she should definitely keep at it with music and singing. she has a gift and her voice is beautiful and should be shared with others. you must be a very proud mama

Thanks so much for your honest feedback. She did write it and played it herself vocals and music. The recording certainly isn't a overly produced one. It was recorded at high School by her music teacher. The teacher is very dedicated and did this last Sunday (I am assuming in his own time) so we are very grateful to him for doing this but it was done quickly and in my opinion could have been mixed down a bit better. The teacher does however have a class of students he has to spread his time between.
I am very proud of her and I am exited to give her some feedback from people who are not her or my friends.

    Thanks again for your feedback.
