    Default Private Groups on Bubhub

    Hi All,

We here at bubhub have been thinking about how private groups might work better on bubhub - especially for things like birthgroups and DIG's.

We cannot get the groups section working on the app due to factors out of our control, and posts in the groups section do not appear in "new posts" which is a bit of a pain ...

so what we are thinking about instead is having members able to set up their own section - but with a private password where the owner of the group can invite whoever they would like to participate in their group and give them the password in the same way that facebook group administrators 'own' the group.

All posts would still be required to abide by the rules of bubhub, and the moderators would still have access to the groups, but the mods would not routinely or actively read the posts - only if reported or brought to their attention that there was a problem.

    What do you think?

Is this a feature that you would like?

(note - we are still looking into the practicalities of how this would work ... so are just looking at possibilities at this stage ... its not definite that this is doable)

I like this idea a lot!

My only concern as someone who is (perhaps unhealthily!) dependent on BH for a source of social interaction that it might mean that general 'public' posting decreases, and that would make me sad :-)

Or would it stop the migration to Facebook?

I like the sound of it but would hope people wouldn't be excluded by the person "owning" the group. What happens if the "owner" takes a BH break?

Hmmm, I think I like it. As Sonja says maybe it will stop the migration to Facebook especially with DIGs. I lost a lot of 'friends' from my TTC threads to FB and as I'm not in FB and like my anonymity I feel like I've missed out.

But harvs also makes a good point about it maybe making the general Bub hub areas quiet - I don't want to feel excluded, which I would naturally feel with this function - but that's my issue - I suffer severely from FOMO!!

This is me too - my first thought was "no one would think to invite me to join their group!"😆
