We went to Guatemala and Belize, yep, it was amazing. I doubt we will ever go again, it's a very very long way from Australia!

Places I'd go if I had the chance in Australia, Broome, Kangaroo Island, Tasmania, Whitsundays.

We went to Vanuatu. It was beautiful and so relaxing. Was cheaper for us to fly there and stay in a 5 star place than it was for us to go up to the Whitsundays which is where we originally wanted to go. Worthwhile looking into it.

We had mini honeymoon, all the budget would allow at the time, in the Gold Coast hinterland. We stayed in a gorgeous chalet.

We had 5 weeks in 5 countries in Africa for our honeymoon. Without a doubt amazing
In oz in August i would be heading north of course! I would either do NT (kakadu specifically there's a couple of lux safari tent style places perfect for honeymooning!) or far North Queensland, (Port Douglas, Palm Cove or an island holiday up there). We stayed at port Douglas a couple of years ago and went hot air ballooning in the tablelands, very romantic. So versatile up there, you can do lots of activities or just laze by the pool drinking cocktails!

Haha no way can I afford 5 weeks in 5 different countries!
Thanks everyone for the ideas so far. Ok slowly checking out options as they're mentioned.
We had just talked about kakadu/ Darwin this morning so it is definitely an option.

I know you said not OS but have you looked at the prices for somewhere like Fiji? We were planning a holiday to cairns and it was actually cheaper to go to Fiji!

We changed our mind from our original plans and are now going here for 5 nights
    http://m.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-87...pa/index.shtml

I'll let you know what it's like!

I got the recommendation on here to try stayz.com.au as our 2b/r 2 bath unit at sea temple is around half the price of the Accor managed ones. But we still get all the resort amenities. If you decided somewhere else I bet they would be great options on stayz

We went to the Gold Coast - it was a lot of fun and not crazy expensive.

The beauty of it is that there's plenty of attractions and loads to do.

Nomsie I have travelled Australia wide many times, been just about everywhere. A place that I love, which also fits your criteria, in Australia, warm weather and stunning! Is Broome in Northern WA. Amazing sunsets over the beach, weather around 28 degrees, pristine beach. You mentioned you liked Cairns, well Broome is way more beautiful. Several resorts to choose from. My fav is Cable Beach Resort. I take it you won't take kids? The adults only section of the hotel is peaceful, complete with adults only pool.

I will definitely look into Broome! I've always wanted to go there!
