Im not sure about drinking it as i took the capsules for both my pregnancies from 32 weeks. my first bub was a nice 8.5 hour labour and i took the capsules right up until the day she was born (40 weeks).

my second i stopped taking the tablets at 36 weeks as i was having constant pre labour and had an irritable uterus, i went on to have a 2.5 hour labour with her (40 weeks). second pregnancy i stopped everything, EPO, sex, RLT (but was still breastfeeding) as they were all contributing to irritable uterus. mostly i think that was due to my pregnancies being close together (within a year)

not sure if thats much help, best of luck..

Thanks for all the feedback, especially to the ladies who wrote about their precipitous labours.

I'm hoping my labour won't be too short, as I would love a chance to settle in to it with some natural pain relief techniques. My first labour was fine and progressed perfectly, but it was an extreme shock to the system. An hour in and I was already begging my husband to make it stop. We only just made it to the hospital. To be honest, I think I'd rather give birth at home with no midwife than transition in the car again.

We live 30 mins from the hospital, and my parents are 15 minutes from us (to look after my DD) Add another 15-20 for me to be sure that I'm actually in labour, as I don't want to call them unnecessarily. Let's hope my labour is at least 1.5-2 hours long!

Glad I stumbled across this thread.. I took raspberry leaf tea and tablets last time and had a quick 5 hour labour with a couple of complications associated with a quick second stage. I am scared of having an even quicker labour this time but also don't want to have a super long labour! I think I'll avoid the raspberry leaf and hope my body does the right thing!

Just wanted to add...while my labour wasn't quick, my midwife commented on how efficient my uterus was at contracting back down afterwards.

This too. I tend to PPH so in order to minimise blood loss RLT is amazing.

The PPH and uterine contraction afterwards is something I hadn't considered. I'll chat to my midwife about it all when I see her next.
