I'm a really high strung person and when I'm stressed or have a lot to do, the muscles where my right shoulder blade is always starts aching. And when I'm shivering from cold, my lower back starts hurting, too. What I found that helped me was going to the gym and doing weights to strengthen my back and shoulder muscles. It really helped a lot, and not to mention, it was great down time. Even just going on weekends, my whole body changed. I became much stronger and my back pain wasn't nearly as bad as before I started going.
Maybe this could be an option?
