Hi Alecsmumma! Which acu are you applying to? I'm also waiting for a January offer, fingers crossed!

How do we know what texts we need for certain units?

    Oh yeah sorry Brisbane campus
I'm still unsure on my preference order I've put acu first midwifery then nursing them 3/4 QUT Logan but may shift top two to midwifery acu remaining 1st.

Should I contact qtac and ask what my ranking is now that they have reviewed my documents and updated my details to say I meet the minimum requirements for my preferences?

i was going to do part time but what's really the difference? I'll be working mon - Thursday next year 28 hours and have a 10 month old.

I don't think it's out till January or even Feb. I've bought some second hand based on what was used previously. Bit of a gamble but there are loads for sale now and I don't want to pay full price!

I'm not really sure about the qtac process. I think it might be a little different to the vtac process down here. You might also be able contact acu Brisbane directly about meeting the minimum. I know in Victoria today is our last day (until noon) to change preferences.
If you read back a little bit into the conversation the girls who have already recieved an offer have been able to see which units they are able to manage/fit in. They also discuss how starting off with more units and then dropping them before the census date is also an option.

Hi Alecsmumma and welcome. Maybe you can pop on and have a look at the timetable and sus out what you will be able to fit into your schedule. Regarding your preferences, you have acu nursing as your 2nd preference? Is that right? And you were considering moving nursing at a different uni to your second preference? Id probably keep nursing at ACU as second preference. I don't have any experience with this but I believe it is easier to transfer courses at the same university. If you were to go to a different uni and then want to change to B Mid at acu you would have to go through the qtac application again.

You certainly can contact qtac for your rank. Its nice to know what it is and where you stand. You may have different ranks for different unis. I had an 86 with ACU and 87 with QUT. Different unis score things differently and some give you a rank bonus if you are local. Hope that helps

It's what I'm struggling to get my head around the most with the course; how much time things will really need, and how that will work around my kids....which is why I've asked about a million questions in various places as to how other people do it and how they've coped with the workload.
Just want to get started now so I can see for myself!
Exactly! It's best to find out for yourself as everyone and their situations are different. For my next placement I have been posted to a town 5 hours away from where I live for 3 weeks 😕 Going to be hard to be away from the kids for so long, plus paying for accommodation is tough. Excited about the learning experience though. Good luck, you'll find your own way through 😊

Jarylee, May I ask, with regards to the rural placement in the course, do we get to put in a preference for which year we do it in and what area we go to? Id like to do it in the first year and I have family all around the place and would prefer to go to a town where someone lives who I can stay with (Toowoomba would be my number one pick). Obviously it may not work out that way. But it would be nice if it could.

    Hi,
I think every university is different so your best bet is to check with them. Where I am first years don't get a rural placment. However from second and third year they do give you an option to put down a preference or request to go rural. Quite a lot of us got rural this semester though without request as they are running out of spots.
