@lileitak: was it you who brought DS back to Canada over the christmas? If so, did you buy any travel insurance for him?

It was me. We had travel insurance for all of us. Even tho I'm a Canadian citizen, my province requires 3-month residence for cover.

We used the compare the market site and ended up with Budget. I think I was 180 for 3 people for just over a month.

Home (for me) to Canada. And honestly one of the major factors we're even trying for another bub is that I'll have my mum around for support.

Yes, without family is tough. My mom left when DS was 7w and i gave up breastfeeding. Well, it turns out that he has a lot of other issues.

We're going to the GP tomorrow to discuss reflux. I suspected DS may have had it when he was younger, but dismissed it assuming I was a paranoid new mum. But thing have gotten really hard the past month, and 3 people have commented to me that it sounds like reflux.

    Hopefully she doesn't dismiss us.

@lileitak: if u describe the symptoms, perhaps I can help. DS is on losec. It helps him to some degree. We thought it didn't help until we took him off for a few days. He is still not a happy feeder which I will have to chat with the new paed next week. Whose baby cries when being fed?! He is gaining weight well. That's why we have been dismissed for issues many times.

It went OK. GP suggested we start with some thickener, so we've got that and some specials teats. She said that if we've gone this long, and he is otherwise happy, it's likely mild, and not worth medication.

So we shall see. I'll be very happy if this works, as I'd prefer a "natural" method to drugs. But really I just want a kid who sleeps more than 45 minutes and doesn't wake up screaming.

Yes, natural is the way to go. warn you on the thickener, though. It can cause constipation. We stopped.
