Default Diastisis Recti - abdominal muscle

    Hello!
i am wondering if anyone has had surgery to repair their separated abdominal muscles (diastisis recti)
does the public system cover this surgery free?
or should I get private health.
I know mine is at least 5-6cms.
My youngest is almost 2.5years and I have just discovered i have it
(I had never even heard of it until recently)
i don't want to go to the doctors until I know some more details
ie public - verses private because if it's best to go private is rather get private cover before seeing a doctor so that it's not considered a existing condition thus voiding my cover.
From what I have researched there are exercises etc I can do and physio but everyone seems to say that it's pointless plus I've also read that because it's now been so long undetected - surgery is the only way to fix it?
we are done having children and I just know I want the surgery - I want it fixed my stomach is horrible and makes me feel horrible about myself
i live in NSW does anyone have advise on waiting lists for surgery or anything about the topic at all

    much appreciated

I don't know anything about the surgery but look into the 'MuTu' programme.

Hi PJandPA, I was just wondering how you went with your diastasis? I am a health professional undertaking further training in rehabilitation management of diastasis. I am looking for case studies to use in my training. Here is a link to my post if you are interested:
