Zara, I used EDSA, which Kimenthra from the lab at CFC runs. I had no concerns and found a donor I really liked.
I was assigned Dr. Wiswedel and found Cyndi (his nurse) quite responsive. His medical advice was exactly what my Canadian doctor recommended and he has a dry sense of humour.
Pink, sorry this has happened to you... I do hope the estrogen kick starts your lining.

Thanks Emski, that's reassuring! Yes I'm on clexane and will try me on baby asprin (i am sensitive to asprin but would rather looking hivey than having blood clots I figure).

Ferngirl - we fly out from Perth on SAA this Friday night then connection from Joburg to Cape Town Saturday morning. What about yourselves?

Has anyone had to use flight stockings - I'm struggling to find any at such short notice aside from the Levante ones at Myers/David Jones. Thinking maybe of using them and bringing flight socks too if the stockings don't feel enough pressure??

Also just found out I do have some NKC (CD163 - whatever that means) from recent biopsy with Dr Wazza - so have madly found a clinic locally for intralipids tomorrow. I know some ladies here have also had it at CFC, and recall people saying they don't do as much over there, any information people have would be appreciated. Curve balls flying everywhere at the moment.

I just use flight socks Pinkshootingstar ... Stockings might be a specialist medical supplier thing.

Pinkshootingstar, I got my flight socks from Chemist warehouse.
I would think if you're on clexane you don't need to take aspirin as well.
For your NKCs I jope you're also on prednisolone?
CFC only do 100mls of Intralipids but I guess its better than nothing.

PSS, my very limited knowledge of CFC and Intralipids is that they only do it one day a week so if you are thinking of it - email them and book in if you can - just in case but if you are doing it tomorrow that will get you through - it only needs to be done 4-6 weekly, generally.

Re the flight stockings, Are you talking knee high or full leg ? I thought full-leg were only an in-hospital item but you could try a big chemist - they will definitely have compression socks/knee highs at least which you probably would be able to also get at the airport chemists (considering what else you can get there !) on the way out.

Don't you love how everything happens at the last minute ??? Good luck with it all.

I had intralipids at CFC. They're not big believers on it but will do it. I'm not sure about only doing it a day a week - when I booked mine they were more interested in it being two or so days before transfer

    Best of luck

Pinky, what a bummer about all these little things popping up at the last minute. As my husband said about the lining to me... dont stress there is still plenty of time for them to thicken it up before transfer if its not on track.
My advice, although saying this is easier than doing it, dont let it all get to you. Once you're here, chillout relax and let the stress just fade away.
Also i took that SAA flight last week after connecting from melbourne. The chairs were mighty hard and uncomfortable. Maybe bring an extra cushion to sit on.

@pinkshootingstar - oh I'm so sorry for your curve ball! My lining was only 9.3 on day of retrieval and Dr K.W. honestly described it as "perfect", so you don't need to get into the upper range (12-13s, for example) for it to be optimal. I think you will get there.

Re flight stockings, maybe you can wear normal support stockings with flight socks over the top? Or wear 2 pairs of support stockings and that should be mighty tight, plus flight socks on top.

@Zara01 - my hubby said the same thing. I'm sure that mine wanted to leave the decision to me because it is my genes that we are foregoing, so he wants to be sure that I'm 110% comfortable with this. After some time I realized that he was also really keen, but he never showed it at the beginning because he didn't want that to influence my decision.

AFM: I went out last night with a friend who lives here who is in the wine industry and who doesn't know why I'm here. He's super fit and eats no carbs. As a result we drank (umm, really a lot) and we ate a meal so small that it wouldn't even qualify as a starter (omg so, so small!).

So now I'm 2 hrs away from transfer and I'm hung over. Not AT ALL what I'd planned. I am reassuring myself that this is pretty much how my son was conceived.
