@Miss Sagi, thanks ...can you get it in Aus? I was thinking of getting the injection but that sounds bettter
Yes, my OB/FS gave me a script for it. $15 at chemist warehouse.
Emski, its only vit D. Maybe go in and see if you can buy the oil over the counter. He gives me scripts all the time for things that can be bought without a script.
Thanks will have a chat to my chemist.
Does any-one know if with CFC you can use donor egg and donor sperm, have PGD done (peace of mind & to not waste time transferring problem embies) and then fly over for a FET?
@emski72 how long did you fly over for with your FET? I'd be in the same situation as you, leaving poppet with his Daddy while I did a speed trip.

Tahli - don't know about PGD but yes re an FET instead of fresh transfer though they do say there is a slightly lower success rate with FET. Is there a reason why you particularly want more testing ? If you go for a proven ED that will probably enhance your chances of success - wouldn't it be nice to find the magic pill that made all cycles successful . The other thing you might want to consider is using the Embryoscope at CFC. The idea is that once the embryos are created they never move out of the 'incubator' and are monitored and selected by using the Embryoscope. Manufacturer says it adds about 20% to the success rate and CFC are happy to use it (adds about $450 to cost) but say they have no evidence either way yet of its added success. I used it and am 14w now with twins and had another 5 embies to freeze which was much better than any previous cycle I did. Good luck with whatever you choose.
Charlie - Re being on steroids (Pred, dex etc) - it is Caltrate Plus you need to take and magnesium doesn't hurt. If I was you, I would be seeing Dr M as the protocol your FS has you on is very mild. Dr M seems to automatically go to 20-25mg + of steroid and usually to at least 14 weeks. He also does progesterone to at least 14 weeks. Intralipids (google away you will find lots of info) but basically it is a 500ml infusion of lipid products (fats) that are infused into you along with saline in a hospital setting for up to 6 hours (as per Dr M, some other doctors do it faster, but there aren't many who do it at all). Each infusion costs $650 plus any Private Hospital costs you might have. You have it roughly every 4 weeks starting about 10 days prior to transfer and stopping anytime between 14w and the end of the pregnancy. Depending on Dr M's instruction you might also have a dose in SA while you are there. I was nervous about having it (the medical side of it) but it is easy and I don't know about others, but there are certainly no side effects I have from it. The other thing Dr M does is an IVIG infusion - similar to Intralipds but 4-5x cost and much stronger. Good luck.

The immune stuff is a pain in the butt, but most FSs do not agree with it or know the proper treatment. My FS/OB had no problems with me seeing a reproductive immunoligist, Dr M.
Depending on where you get your intralipids done will also depend on the dose they give you. I got 500mls over 2.5hrs on Adl, but many incl CFC will only give you 100mls.
Hi Tahli and welcome,
I got both donor sperm (approximately $100) and donor egg from CFC. They made it really easy. Both Dr. Wiswedel and my fertility specialist here said that PGD is superfluous with young eggs and sperm. I would also recommend the embryoscope.
I went to Cape Town for a long while, it is truly a special place. From recollection, I needed to be there on March 21, my embryo transfer was scheduled for March 28. My embryo transfer occurred on March 30.
Based on my experience, I would recommend scheduling your return flight at least three days after expected embryo transfer. Mine was pushed back two days and CFC recommends rest for at least one day after.
Good luck to you and extra luck to the August ladies!
