BB4Me - firstly there's beaps of accommodation and CFC Info on thread 9. I travelled with a19m old at the time (in Feb) and it is not a problem to take baby milk or formula or even water through customs when you have a baby in tow. Rules seem to be flexible then. I had tons of purées and formula powder and all sort of food my lil man. Real milk I normally asked from the stewardesses and over there I bought normal full cream milk, yogurts etc. Nappues are all either buggies or pampers but tgey are not the same as here, just produced for a different market I giess. Nevertheless they are nappies that worked an I had no issues. It depends on of course of your baby is used to one particular brand/type or gets easy nappy rashes, you may consider taking some with you. We stayed there for 2.5 weeks and managed well with his food and nappies.
We stayed at Rosebank, Medindi Manor self contained granny flat with separate entrance and court yard and it was just perfect with a toddler, safe and private yet still access to the main house and garden with a pool. 10m drive from the clinic. Good luck with all the prep it's an exciting time!

I wholeheartedly agree! . Dr Le Roux is thorough, friendly, personable and even better he gets results!

He also has some great recommendations for places to visit that are off the usual tourist run..

I use Dr Wiswedel and Cyndi. She has sent me a proposed plan where I am to have a scan on the 28th December which is a public holiday which makes it not possible, it would have to be the 29th so I am looking at flights again. Singapore airlines will fly on the 31st and is heaps cheaper than Virgin or Qantas for the same dates so my question is for those who have used them and had a stopover in Singapore, how much time do you need to allow? Do you sit on the plane until it leaves or swap planes in which case how much time is needed to grab bags and find the next departure lounge?

I just booked my flights and decided to go with qantas this time - they were a couple hundred more expensive but had better flight times I thought, then got to the payment bit and found that I had a tonne of points and instead of costing me $2200, the whole lot cost me $498 return (including $30 credit card fee) !!!!!! I am so excited ! Now the entire trip is only going to cost me $2000 thank heavens.

My understanding is that if you book all connecting flights with the same airline, they generally leave enough time to get from one plane to another. You don't usually just stay on the plane, you normally would have to change planes. I'm going via Sydney and last time we went via Perth so no help here, sorry.

If you book the whole trip through Singapore airlines they allow enough time for transiting and your bags go the whole way through.

If you book on separate airlines say jetstar bris-sing then Singapore airlines from sing to cpt you'd need to allow about 4 hours between the flights.

We used Singapore airlines the first trip mel-cpt and it was fine, there was about 2 hours in Singapore we stayed on the plane in Johannesburg to refuel then straight into cpt.

@Devaki - did you hire a car seat with your car hire place, that's the one thing that's stumping me, whether to take our car seat..

I had dr Matebese and whilst I was anxious before I went (she wasn't one of the docs people were raving about) - I was so glad I had her. Honest, compassionate and went the extra mile and then some. Cannot recommend her highly enough
