Default recomend me a vacuum cleaner please :)

in the running for a new vacuum cleaner, previously owned a vax that while great at cleaning was big, bulky and heavy to cart around also the poles fell off all the time.

I have floor boards and lino square in living areas and kitchen, tiles in bathroom and carpet in the bedrooms.
2 indoor cats and 2 small children (who are disastrously messy)

bagless or bagged doesnt bother me but I do prefer a reusable bag instead of a throw away one if thats an option and am aiming for the 500-600 mark

(yes I know thats pretty cheap lol, I dont have 3 grand to buy an expensive one, last vax was 550)

    We have this vacuum
It's similar to a Dyson and I'm pretty happy with it. Cost about $450- $500 from memory

Eta: we have 3 cats so a good vacuum was essential

I'd recommend a Dyson animal, it's the best vacuum ever! I have three white dogs and charcoal carpet they drop hair and I was crying because I couldn't get my carpet clean... Now that I have my Dyson I'm one happy lady. You can normally get them on special for around 700$ it's worth it...

I have a nilfisk extreme and wouldn't recommend it. It's bagged and loses suction dramatically once the bag is half full.

We're in need of a new vacuum too. We've been looking at getting a Dyson. Is the Dyson DC54 just as good as the Dyson animal?
