Default late period no idea when to test

Hi guys I'm new here and not sure if there is a different place i should post my question but thought I'd start here and see what advice i can get my question is how long after I've missed my period should i take a test? I've always been really regular with my period never more than a day early or one day late but now I'm 5 days late with no sign of my period. Any advice would be great thanks

You can test now. most tests are accurate on the day of your missed period.

Well i took a pregnancy test this morning and got a BFN I'm in day 35 on my cycle with isnt normal my normal is 28 with the occasional 27 day cycle. It is actually making me quite frustrated not knowing why my period is so late I even broke down crying after getting the negative cause of how frustrated i am. I have booked a doctors appointment for Thursday which will make me around 10 days late
I really hope thia week goes fast just so i know what is going on -.- i will keep you guys updated when things change
